Installation Guide

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

What is the installation process?

The Hold mounts to a standard ceiling junction box via the included canopy. Connect to mains wiring, adjust the cord to your preferred height, and secure. Professional installation recommended.

Is the mounting hardware included?

Yes — canopy, cord, mounting screws, and the remote control are all included in the box.

Can it be controlled via mobile devices?

The included remote handles all controls — dimming, colour temperature, and on/off. No separate app or hub is required.

How does the touch-sensitive sensor work?

The Hold uses a handheld remote rather than a touch sensor. Point it at the fixture to adjust brightness and colour temperature — range works across a standard room.

Is the Hold Pendant Light dimmable?

Yes — the remote controls dimming from full brightness down to a low ambient level. No separate dimmer switch is needed.

What are the available light modes?

Warm white, neutral white, and cool white — switchable via remote. All three modes can also be dimmed to any level.

How energy-efficient are the LED lights?

The integrated LEDs consume 13W or 26W depending on size, delivering up to 2860 lm — significantly more efficient than equivalent incandescent or halogen sources.

What is the lifespan of the LEDs?
