What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, wire stripper

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — at your circuit breaker or fuse box.
  2. Remove the old cover plate — unscrew it and set it aside.
  3. Take out the old switch — unscrew it from the electrical box and pull it out.
  4. Disconnect the wires — loosen the screws, or if back-inserted, cut and strip the ends.
  5. Connect the wires to the new switch — wrap around the screws and tighten, or insert into the holes if your switch uses those.
  6. Secure the new switch — tuck the wires back into the electrical box and fasten with the provided screws.
  7. Attach the new cover plate — place it over the switch and screw it in.
  8. Turn the power back on — at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
  9. Test your new switch — rotate the dimmer knob; your lights should brighten and dim smoothly.

What is a 3-way rotary dimmer switch?

A 3-way dimmer controls a single light (or set of lights) from two switch locations — for example, at the top and bottom of a staircase. The rotary knob on the Harboore handles the dimming; the 3-way wiring handles the multi-point switching.

How do you turn the dimmer on or off?

Push the brass knob in — it clicks on and off. To adjust brightness, rotate the knob clockwise (brighter) or counter-clockwise (dimmer). The two actions are independent, so the light remembers its dimmed level when you switch back on.

What material is this dimmer made of?

Solid brass, handcrafted. The faceplate and knob are brass throughout — no plastic surround, no hollow sections. The weight and finish are immediately apparent compared to a standard plastic dimmer.

Is this dimmer switch compatible with LED lights?

Yes — the Harboore uses Triac (leading-edge) dimming, which is compatible with most LED bulbs and drivers. Check that your specific LED bulbs are marked as dimmable; most modern LEDs are.

Is this dimmer UL Certified?

The Harboore is designed to fit a standard 1-gang US electrical box and installs in approximately five minutes with a screwdriver. However, working inside an electrical box carries risk — professional installation by a licensed electrician is recommended if you are not experienced with wiring.

How many gang options are available for this dimmer switch?

The Harboore fits a single 1-gang box. For multi-gang configurations, contact Nava — we can advise on compatible multi-gang covers and how to run 3-way setups across adjacent positions.

Does this dimmer switch provide a tactile feel when turning it on or off?

Yes — the push function has a positive click; the rotary turn is smooth and damped. The solid brass body adds to the experience: the switch feels planted in the wall rather than loose, and the knob has real weight when you rotate it.

Can this dimmer be used in 3-way systems?
