The Object

Aimednot just pointed at the floor

The Haarby sits flush with the ceiling and tilts to direct its beam at an angle. Small enough to disappear into a grid, strong enough at 18W to light a work surface or highlight a wall. Sloped-ceiling compatible, in black or white, with integrated LED that requires no ongoing bulb maintenance.
Why you'll love it
  • Adjustable head — direct the beam precisely where needed
  • Flush-mount profile — almost invisible in the ceiling
  • 18W integrated LED, 1980 lm — strong, focused output
  • Sloped-ceiling compatible for angled installations
  • Black or white finish · dimmable on request
Details

The install depends on your mount type — trimless, recessed, semi-recessed, surface, or track — so confirm which one you have before you start.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — trimless, recessed, semi-recessed, surface-mounted, or track-mounted; confirm the type in your product listing
  • Ceilings — most models suit drywall; some also work with concrete or drop ceilings, check the technical documentation
  • Dimming — many designs dim when paired with compatible drivers and wall dimmers
  • Power — hardwired, connects directly to a ceiling electrical junction
  • Trimless — may need professional finishing or flush-mount drywall work
  • Track — installs onto a compatible rail system; check your product's specification for track type

What you'll need

  • Drill, keyhole or drywall saw (for recessed or trimless)
  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included with most fixtures), screws and wall anchors (for surface mounting)
  • Level, measuring tape or pencil

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — at the breaker panel, and confirm with a voltage tester.
  2. Prepare the ceiling opening (recessed and trimless only) — mark your opening with the provided template and cut carefully with a drywall saw or hole cutter. Trimless models need deeper space and extra setup for a seamless finish.
  3. Install the mounting hardware or fixture housing — recessed and trimless designs insert into the ceiling cavity and secure with spring clips or fasteners (trimless may need joist framing); semi-recessed fixtures partially install per the included instructions; surface-mounted downlights attach directly with screws and wall anchors; track fixtures need a compatible track system first, then lock into place.
  4. Connect the wiring — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck neatly back into the housing or box.
  5. Final assembly — trimless fixtures get mudded and feathered into the ceiling plane before painting; recessed, semi-recessed, and surface fixtures finish by twisting or snapping the trim or body into place; track lights get positioned and rotated along the rail after locking in.
  6. Restore power and test — use the wall switch or dimmer to verify proper operation.

Good to know

  • Professional installation is recommended for trimless or recessed downlights, especially with mudding or insulation involved.
  • Follow local electrical codes and regulations.
  • Use only compatible drivers and dimmers for your fixture.
  • Keep safe spacing from insulation in ceiling cavities to prevent overheating.

How it works

Adjustable headbeam shifts without moving the fixture

The head pivots within the ceiling ring — so once it's installed, you can redirect the beam to a counter, a wall, or an artwork without any tools. The aluminium body is compact and the profile sits flush, so the downlight reads as a clean circle in the ceiling rather than a protruding fitting.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
Three things worth knowing before you fit the Haarby.
Precise beam

The adjustable head tilts to direct focused light at any surface — counter, artwork, or wall.

Flush profile

The body sits almost entirely in the ceiling — minimal visual interruption from below.

Nothing to replace

Integrated LED is sealed in and rated for 50,000+ hours — no maintenance cycle.

Frequently asked

Aluminium throughout — body, ring, and adjustable head. It's durable, dissipates heat efficiently from the LED, and keeps the profile compact for flush ceiling installation.

Two: D 8.5 cm (compact) and D 12 cm (standard). Both deliver 18W and 1980 lm — the size difference affects the ceiling cut-out, not the output.

Black and white. Black disappears into dark ceilings; white blends into standard white ceilings. Both suit modern, minimal, and commercial interiors.

Yes — the integrated LED is built in and included. 18W, 1980 lm, sealed into the fitting with no separate bulb to source.

Yes — kitchens, hallways, offices, bedrooms, and retail spaces all suit it. The adjustable head and focused output make it versatile for both task and accent roles.

The head pivots within the ceiling ring to tilt the beam in any direction — useful for highlighting counters, walls, or artwork from a fixed ceiling point.

It's designed specifically for ceiling installation — recessed into a standard cut-out, hardwired to the ceiling box. Sloped ceilings are compatible without adapters.

The integrated LED is rated for 50,000+ hours — well over a decade of daily use. The aluminium body requires no maintenance beyond occasional dusting.

The adjustable head — most recessed downlights are fixed and only light straight down. The Haarby tilts to direct focused light at an angle, giving you precise control once it's installed.

Yes — 18W for 1980 lm is strong output at low wattage. The integrated LED draws significantly less than equivalent halogen downlights and produces less heat in the ceiling cavity.
