The Object

Hung on chainswood that does the work

The Gommer suspends a lacquered solid-wood body from two iron chains — the combination of natural grain and dark metal keeping it grounded rather than ornamental. Four LEDs inside throw a glare-free ambient wash downward. The 100 x 110 cm form has the scale to anchor a dining table or island without competing with the room. Drop adjusts to 1.2 m, dimmable on request.
Why you'll love it
  • Solid wood in polished lacquer — grain visible, built to last
  • Twin rustic iron chains give it weight and presence
  • Glare-free ambient light — four LEDs spread evenly downward
  • Adjustable drop to 1.2 m, dimmable on request
  • 50,000-hour LED life — replaceable bulbs
Details

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

Good to know

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

The making

Wood and irontwo materials, one form held in tension

The Gommer's body is solid wood, finished in a polished lacquer that seals the surface and deepens the grain without obscuring it. The twin suspension chains are iron — raw-finished and heavier in appearance than the wood they carry. The contrast is intentional: the warmth of the timber against the industrial chain keeps the fixture from reading as purely rustic or purely modern.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
Why the Gommer's build quality holds up over years of use.
Solid wood

Lacquered natural grain — not veneer, not engineered board — visible and preserved in the finish.

Glare-free spread

Four LEDs inside the body wash light downward evenly — no hotspots over a long table.

Scale to match

100 x 110 cm — sized to anchor a dining table or island without overwhelming the ceiling.

Frequently asked

The Gommer installs to a standard junction box and suits flat ceilings in any room. For sloped ceilings, contact us when ordering — we can advise on compatibility and configure accordingly.

Solid wood in a polished lacquer finish, iron suspension chains, and glass components where light exits the body. No MDF or engineered board — the wood is the same material through to the joints.

The Gommer hangs from a ceiling junction box via the twin iron chains and an included canopy. All mounting hardware is in the box. Professional installation by a certified electrician is recommended.

Yes — the ceiling canopy, suspension chains, and hardware are all included. Four E27 LED bulbs are also in the box, so nothing additional is needed before switching on.

50,000 hours. At 6 hours per day that's over 22 years before the bulbs need replacing. When they do, any standard E27 LED fits — no proprietary parts required.

The polished lacquer seals the wood grain against humidity and surface wear. Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth — avoid abrasive cleaners, which can dull the lacquer over time.

No — the Gommer is rated for indoor use only. The wood body and iron chains are not treated for exposure to rain or sustained moisture.

Minimal. Dust the wood body with a dry cloth, and wipe the iron chains occasionally with a dry cloth to keep them from accumulating dust in the links. The lacquer protects the wood without needing re-finishing.

On request — let us know when ordering and we'll configure the fixture for use with a standard wall dimmer. The E27 bulbs can also be replaced with dimmable equivalents independently.

The combination of natural wood and iron chain sits comfortably in rustic, industrial, transitional, and mid-century interiors. The lacquer keeps it clean rather than rough-hewn, so it works in modern dining rooms too.
