Installation Guide

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

Wood shaped into a shade — grain reads in every angle of light

The Gneiss shade is formed from metal and wood — the wood surface carries all the natural variation of a piece cut from a real tree: grain direction, colour shifts, texture in the surface. Under daylight it reads as an object of warm natural material. Lit from within by the E27, those same variations catch and scatter the light slightly differently across the shade, giving the fixture a livelier quality than a uniform manufactured surface.

What is the return policy?

Nava Decor offers a 14-day return window from the date of delivery. The fixture must be uninstalled and in its original condition. Contact us to initiate a return and we'll guide you through the process.

Are there any warranties available?

Yes — the Gneiss comes with a 1-year Nava warranty against manufacturing defects, extendable to 2, 3, or 5 years. Contact our team before the warranty period ends to arrange an extension.

What materials are used in the construction?

Metal canopy and suspension hardware, with a natural wood body for the shade. The wood is finished to preserve the natural grain and texture — no paint or opaque coating is applied over the surface.

How do I install this fixture?

The Gneiss installs to a standard ceiling junction box via a hardwired connection. All suspension hardware and the E27 bulb are included. Professional installation by a certified electrician is recommended.

Is this light fixture energy-efficient?

Yes — the included E27 LED runs at 15W producing 1,500 lm, equivalent in output to approximately a 100W incandescent at a fraction of the energy consumption. It's rated to 50,000 hours.

Can the cable length be adjusted?

Yes — the cord adjusts to a maximum of 1.5 m from the ceiling at installation. The drop is set at fit-out and fixed in place. If a shorter drop is needed, the excess cord is concealed in the canopy.

What type of lighting does it provide?

Ambient-directional — the wood shade directs the E27 glow downward and diffuses it slightly through the material. Choose from warm white (3,000 K), natural (4,000 K), or cool white (6,000 K) when ordering.

How long do the LED lights last?

The included E27 LED is rated to 50,000 hours. When it eventually needs replacing, any standard E27 LED fits — no proprietary parts are required.

Is this fixture suitable for outdoor use?

No — the Gneiss is rated for indoor use only. The natural wood shade is not treated for exposure to direct rain or sustained outdoor humidity.
