Details

A standard outlet swap — power off, match the wires, new brass outlet in. GFCI and USB-C models just have a couple of extra terminals to watch for.

What's included

Brass plate, your selected outlet type (Standard, USB-C, or GFCI), and mounting accessories.

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, wire stripper

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — at your circuit breaker or fuse box.
  2. Remove the old cover plate — unscrew it and set it aside.
  3. Take out the old outlet — unscrew it from the electrical box and gently pull it out.
  4. Disconnect the wires — loosen the screws, or if back-inserted, cut and strip the ends.
  5. Connect the wires to the new outlet — wrap around screws or insert into terminals, following the Line, Neutral, and Ground markings (especially for GFCI and USB-C outlets).
  6. Secure the new outlet — tuck the wires back into the electrical box and fasten with the provided screws.
  7. Attach the new cover plate — place the brass plate over the outlet and screw it in.
  8. Turn the power back on — at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
  9. Test it — plug in a device to confirm power. For USB-C, test with a compatible charger. For GFCI, press the Test and Reset buttons to confirm it's working.

On the metal

Solid brassweight and warmth at the socket

Most outlets are plastic — functional, invisible, forgotten. The Giske is 100% solid brass machined to fit a standard 1-gang box. The brass tone reads as a considered material choice against a painted wall — warm and slightly reflective, picking up light differently through the day. Installs in five minutes with a standard screwdriver.

Frequently asked

100% solid brass — no plastic components. The brass is machined and finished uniformly, giving a consistent warm tone on the face and edges.

Approximately five minutes — switch off the breaker, remove the old outlet, connect the wires to the Giske's terminals, and screw it into the box. A standard screwdriver is all you need.

Yes — the Giske Outlet is a standard receptacle; it powers any device that plugs into a 120V US socket, including LED lamp cords and chargers.

No — a standard flathead or Phillips screwdriver handles the full installation. A voltage tester is recommended to confirm power is off before you begin.

Yes — UL listed for both the US and Canada, meeting the electrical safety standards required for residential use in both countries.

Yes — designed for US standard 1-gang electrical boxes. No adapter or special housing is needed.

1.5 lbs — considerably heavier than a plastic outlet. That weight reflects the solid brass construction; once mounted it sits flush and firm in the wall.

The Giske Outlet is a standard receptacle — it does not have a built-in dimming function. Dimming is controlled by the fixture or switch on the circuit, not the outlet.

The outlet itself is not a dimmer. If your circuit uses a wall dimmer switch, the outlet will pass power to whatever is plugged in as normal.
