Installation Guide

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

Yes — the Frieze is hardwired and requires a certified electrician. Given the weight of the larger sizes (up to 18 kg), ensure the ceiling junction box is rated for the load.

What materials is it made from?

Polished stainless steel frame with metal chain curtains. The chains are finished to match the frame — no mixing of materials or coating that can flake over time.

How does the lighting operate?

19 replaceable G9 LED bulbs sit at the centre of the chain arrangement, providing the warm light that glows between and through the hanging links.

Is it energy efficient?

G9 LED bulbs deliver strong output at low wattage — far more efficient than equivalent halogen G9s, which the LEDs are designed to replace.

Can it be used in large living spaces?

Yes — the 100 cm version anchors large dining rooms, entryways, or double-height living spaces. The 70 cm works for mid-size rooms, the 40 cm for a focused bedroom accent.

Does it come with all mounting hardware?

Yes — all mounting hardware is included. Professional installation is still recommended given the weight and hardwired connection.

Is it temperature and fade-resistant?

Yes — polished stainless steel is specified precisely because it holds its finish through temperature cycles and does not fade or discolour over time.

How long is the LED operating life?

G9 LED bulbs are rated at 50,000 operating hours. Because they're replaceable, you can swap individual bulbs if one dims before the others.

Does it require a specific voltage?

No — it runs on 90–260V, so it's compatible with standard household mains in any country without a converter.
