What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, wire stripper

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — at your circuit breaker or fuse box.
  2. Remove the old cover plate — unscrew it and set it aside.
  3. Take out the old switch — unscrew it from the electrical box and pull it out.

Knurled grip — machined for the hand

The knurling on the Floro dial is machined to a specific pitch — close enough for grip, wide enough to feel under a finger without catching. The brass is finished by hand rather than factory-coated, so the surface has a depth that polished plating does not. Over time the peaks develop a shine that the recesses do not — a patina that reads as age, not wear.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Fluid dimming

Triac dimming runs silently from full brightness to a low glow with no steps or jumps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this dimmer switch compatible with LED lights?

Yes — the Floro uses triac dimming, compatible with most dimmable LED and incandescent bulbs. Check that your LED bulbs are rated for triac dimmers before installing.

What materials are used in the construction?

100% solid brass — body, dial, and plate. No plastic structural components. The finish is applied by hand rather than factory-coated.

How long does installation typically take?

About five minutes to replace a standard wall dimmer — it fits US 1-gang electrical boxes and uses the same wiring positions. A certified electrician is recommended.

Is the dimmer switch UL certified?

Yes — UL listed for both the US and Canada. Meets all applicable electrical safety standards for residential installation.

Does the switch fit standard US electrical boxes?

Yes — the Floro is designed for US 1-gang electrical boxes. It replaces standard wall dimmers using existing wiring.

How durable is the product?

Solid brass construction — resistant to corrosion, cracking, and fading. Built for decades of daily use. The knurled dial mechanism is machined to a tight tolerance for consistent feel over time.

What is the weight of the dimmer switch?

The Floro is noticeably heavier than a standard plastic dimmer — the solid brass body gives it a substantial feel in the hand, which is part of what makes it tactilely satisfying.

Is the dimmer switch suitable for historical homes?

Well suited — the knurled brass aesthetic reads naturally in heritage and period interiors. The antique brass finish option in particular is popular in older homes being restored or updated.

Does the switch support triac dimming?

Yes — the Floro uses triac (leading edge) dimming. This is the most common protocol for dimmable LED and incandescent bulbs in US residential wiring.

Is the product handcrafted?

The brass body is precision-machined, then hand-finished by artisans. Each piece develops a natural patina that is unique — no two units finish exactly alike over time.
