The Object

Solid brassturned into a cylinder

The Eidfjord is a simple thing done properly: solid brass turned into a smooth cylinder, available as a round knob or a straight pull bar in five bar lengths. Brass or bronze finish, ergonomic in the grip — it's the piece you reach for dozens of times a day across every kitchen cabinet and wardrobe door. Weighted right, polished to last.
Why you'll love it
  • Solid brass throughout — no hollow core, no plastic components
  • Knob in three sizes, pull bar in five lengths — one design language across all
  • Smooth cylindrical grip — comfortable in wet or dry hands
  • Brass or bronze finish — suits warm and cool cabinet palettes
  • Works on cabinets, drawers, and wardrobe doors in any room
Details

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

On the metal

Turned from brasssmooth and weighted

Each Eidfjord piece is machined from solid brass — the cylinder is turned rather than stamped, so the geometry is precise and the weight is consistent across every size. The finish is applied after machining, so it holds into the grain of the metal rather than sitting on the surface.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
Three things that make the Eidfjord worth choosing over a cheaper cabinet pull.
Solid brass

Machined from solid brass — no hollow core, no fill material, weighty and lasting.

Knob or bar

Three knob sizes and five pull bar lengths in the same cylindrical form language.

Two finishes

Brass and bronze — one for warm whites and naturals, one for darker, richer palettes.

Frequently asked

Solid brass throughout — machined, not stamped. There are no hollow sections or plastic components; the weight and feel are consistent from the smallest knob to the longest pull bar.

Yes — both the knob and pull bar formats work on cabinet doors and drawer fronts. The pull bars are sized with standard hole spacings to fit most existing cabinet drilling patterns.

Yes — solid brass holds up well in bathroom humidity. The finish is applied to resist tarnishing in moist conditions, making it appropriate for bathroom vanity drawers and medicine cabinets.

The cylindrical form is spare enough to suit contemporary, Japandi, transitional, and mid-century modern interiors. Brass reads warm in pale rooms; bronze suits richer, darker palettes.

Yes — the smooth cylinder is ergonomically sized: wide enough for a full-hand pull, compact enough for a fingertip turn on a knob. The weight adds confidence to the action.

The finish is treated to resist tarnishing under normal daily use. Over years, solid brass develops a natural patina — most owners find this adds character rather than diminishing the look.

Yes — the solid brass construction is durable enough for high-traffic commercial environments. It carries no residential-only restriction and is suitable for hospitality and retail cabinetry.

Yes — fixing screws are included. Standard drill bits are sufficient for installation; no specialist tools are required. The pull bars come with hole spacings matching common cabinet drilling patterns.

Three round knob diameters (D2, D2.5, D3 cm), one T-knob (L5 cm), and five pull bar lengths (L11.5 to L26 cm). Full sizing and hole-spacing details are in the product spec above.

Wipe with a soft dry cloth for everyday maintenance. For light tarnish, a damp cloth with mild soap followed by thorough drying works well. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that would scratch the finish.
