The Object

Ribbed across the ovalgrip by design

The Dagnas is a small oval of solid brass, 3 cm across and 2.8 cm tall, with ridges cut across the face. The ribbing is functional — it gives the fingers something to hold — and visual, catching the light at angles the smooth parts don't. Brushed brass finish, 102 g, and it develops a patina slowly over years of handling.
Why you'll love it
  • Solid brass — weighty and built for decades of daily use
  • Ribbed oval surface — textured grip without a handle
  • Brushed brass finish that develops a natural patina with use
  • Compact 3 cm x 2.8 cm — suits cabinets, drawers, wardrobes
  • Ergonomic pull angle — comfortable from any direction
Details

Includes the solid-brass plate, toggle mechanism, and mounting hardware. A straightforward swap for an existing switch — power off, match the wires, screw the plate back on.

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power at your breaker or fuse box.
  2. Remove the old cover plate — unscrew it and set it aside.
  3. Take out the old switch — unscrew it from the box and ease it out to reach the wiring.
  4. Disconnect the wires — loosen the screws, or if back-inserted, cut and strip the ends.
  5. Wire the new toggle — live to the brass/black screw, neutral to silver (if your switch uses one), ground to the green screw. Tighten each.
  6. Secure the switch — tuck the wires back, align the toggle, fasten with the included screws.
  7. Fit the brass plate over the switch and screw it in.
  8. Power back on at the panel.
  9. Test — toggle up and down; the light or device should switch cleanly.

The finish

Brushed brassribs catch the light at an angle

The ridges run horizontally across the oval face — each one a distinct line that picks up light differently depending on the angle you approach from. Brushed brass means the surface is matte between ribs but carries warmth throughout. At 102 g, it's heavier than most cabinet knobs — the weight is part of the feel.

Frequently asked

Solid brass throughout — no plating over a cheaper metal core. The weight (102 g) reflects the density of the material. It will not crack, hollow, or flex under normal daily use.

102 g — noticeably heavier than most cabinet knobs on the market. The weight contributes to the quality feel and ensures it sits solidly rather than rattling or shifting in the mount.

The combination of an oval form and horizontal ribbing is less common than round smooth knobs. The ribs are functional — they improve grip — but also create a sculptural surface that catches light differently from every angle.

Brushed brass reads warm in both contemporary and traditional interiors. It suits Scandinavian, warm minimalist, transitional, and heritage-influenced rooms. The oval form is discreet enough to work in most contexts.

Cabinets, kitchen cupboards, bathroom vanity drawers, wardrobes, and sideboards. It's not rated for exterior doors or high-moisture applications like showers, but bathroom cabinet use at normal humidity is fine.

Brushed brass — a matte, directional finish applied across the solid brass surface. It reduces fingerprint visibility compared to polished brass and ages more gracefully into a patina.

It improves it. The ribs run horizontally, so when you close your fingers around the knob, the ridges land across your fingertips and give real traction. The oval shape also sits more naturally in the hand than a round knob.

Yes — the Dagnas is a standard knob mount. Drill the appropriate hole for your door or drawer face, insert the bolt through from behind, and thread the knob on. Hardware is included.

Yes — brushed brass develops a natural patina with handling. This is a characteristic of the material, not a flaw: the surface slowly records years of daily contact and becomes richer in tone over time.

It can handle standard bathroom cabinet humidity without issue. Avoid direct contact with water (wet hands repeatedly, or installation inside a shower enclosure) — the brass will patina faster in persistently damp conditions.
