The Object

Balanced at both endslight in tension

The Colmar hangs a curved iron tube with an opal glass globe at each end — the form reads as a counterbalance, two weights pulling gently against each other. The opal glass diffuses the G9 LED inside into a soft, even sphere of light. Black or white finish, sloped-ceiling compatible, height adjustable to 70 cm. A compact accent that works over a bedside table, a reading chair, or a small dining table.
Why you'll love it
  • Opal glass globes diffuse the light — warm, no harsh points
  • Geometric counterbalance form — two ends in balance
  • Black or white iron finish, matte and minimal
  • Sloped-ceiling compatible, drop adjustable to 70 cm
  • Replaceable G9 LED — dimmable on request
Details

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

Good to know

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

The shape

Arched tubewith a globe at each end

The tube curves in a shallow arc, and the globes at each end read as intentional weights rather than decorative additions. The form suggests tension and balance — which is why it works as a single pendant rather than a cluster.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
Three things worth knowing before you hang it.
Opal glow

Each frosted opal globe turns the G9 LED into a soft, even sphere — comfortable from any angle.

Compact scale

At 32 cm across, the Colmar suits bedside, reading nook, or small dining table without overwhelming the space.

Two finishes

Matte black for contrast and drama; white for a quieter, more architectural presence.

Frequently asked

The tube and frame are iron, finished in matte black or white with a temperature- and fade-resistant coating. The two shades are opal glass — frosted for diffusion.

The included G9 LEDs are rated for 50,000 hours — roughly 17 years at 8 hours daily. When they eventually need replacing, any standard G9 LED fits.

Yes — the paint is non-toxic, temperature-resistant, and formulated to hold its colour over time. Both black and white finishes are stable under normal indoor conditions.

Yes — canopy, mounting bracket, and fixings are included. Wiring to the junction box requires a certified electrician.

Yes — the canopy accommodates sloped ceilings, so the tube hangs level even when the ceiling angle varies.

Dimming is available on request — specify at checkout and we'll configure the driver accordingly. Standard G9 dimmers work once selected.

The Colmar comes in warm white or cool white — choose your preferred colour temperature at checkout. Switching between modes requires a driver change; specify your preference when ordering.

Yes — both finishes use non-toxic, durable paint that is safe for indoor environments, including bedrooms and dining rooms.

The two G9 LEDs draw just 10 W total — comparable to a single old-style incandescent at a fraction of the energy, with 50,000 hours before any replacement is needed.

The Colmar runs on 90–260 V, making it compatible with standard electrical supplies worldwide. No transformer or adaptor required.
