The Object

Lined up on a barglass at even intervals

The Cistus suspends a row of glass shades from a single iron bar, so the light falls in an even line rather than a cluster. Four, five, or six shades — each holding a replaceable E14 LED — spread the output across a table or island without hot centres or dim ends. Black or gold iron, adjustable cord to 1.2 m, two colour temperatures on request.
Why you'll love it
  • Linear bar holds 4, 5, or 6 glass shades at even spacing
  • Even light distribution — no bright centre or dim ends over a long table
  • Iron bar in black or gold — suits contemporary and warm-modern dining spaces
  • Replaceable E14 LEDs included · warm or white light on request
  • Adjustable cord to 1.2 m · sloped-ceiling compatible on request
Details

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

Good to know

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

On the light

Six sources, one barreads as a single fixture

The Cistus bar is proportioned so the shades read as a composed unit rather than a collection of individual pendants — the spacing is tight enough that the light pools overlap, giving a continuous wash rather than isolated circles. The iron bar hides the wiring, so from below there's only the row of glass forms with no visible cord running between them. Two colour temperatures allow the fixture to shift from warm dining light to cooler kitchen task light.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
Why the Cistus delivers over a dining table without hot spots.
Continuous Wash

Overlapping light pools from each shade give a seamless, even output along the full length of the bar.

Three Sizes

4-head (100 cm), 5-head (120 cm), or 6-head (120 cm wider) — match the bar length to your table or island.

Easy Replacement

Each E14 bulb is independently replaceable without removing the fixture — standard base, standard replacement.

Frequently asked

Yes — the Cistus's iron frame and glass shades read as consistent with early-to-mid 20th century industrial and craft-period aesthetics. In black, it suits Craftsman and Arts & Crafts interiors; in gold, it pairs with warmer period finishes without looking anachronistic.

The bar and hardware are iron; the shades are glass. Black or gold finish on the iron — both are applied over the base metal for durability. The E14 sockets are standard ceramic, rated for long-term use at the specified wattage.

The included E14 LEDs are rated at 50,000 hours of operating life. At four hours of use per day, that's over 34 years before a replacement would be needed — and when one eventually fails, any standard E14 LED fits the socket.

Yes — the cord is adjustable up to 1.2 m from the ceiling canopy to the bar. Your electrician can set the drop at installation. If you need additional length beyond 1.2 m for a very high ceiling, contact us before ordering and we can advise on options.

The Cistus can be configured for warm white or cool white output — specify your preference at the time of order. Warm white (2700–3000K) suits dining rooms; cool white (4000K) works better in kitchen areas where task lighting matters more than ambiance.

The Cistus hardwires to a standard ceiling junction box via the canopy plate. The cord feeds up through the iron bar and connects at the canopy. We recommend a certified electrician for the hardwired connection; once installed, the cord length is adjusted by hand before the canopy cover is secured.

Dining rooms, kitchen islands, home bars, and restaurant tables are the strongest applications — the linear form is designed for spaces where a long, even light source over a surface is needed. It also works in hallways or above a console table as a decorative overhead strip.

Yes — the canopy plate and all mounting hardware are included in the box. Your electrician will need the canopy plate for the ceiling junction box connection; no additional parts need to be sourced.

The Cistus ships with the glass shades shown — the profile is set as part of the design, and alternative shade shapes aren't available through a standard order. If you have a specific form in mind, contact us to discuss a made-to-order configuration.

The Cistus runs on 90–260VAC, covering North American (110–120V), European and Australian (220–240V), and most other domestic standards worldwide — no adaptor or transformer needed.
