Details

Includes the solid-brass plate, toggle mechanism, and mounting hardware. A straightforward swap for an existing switch — power off, match the wires, screw the plate back on.

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power at your breaker or fuse box.
  2. Remove the old cover plate — unscrew it and set it aside.
  3. Take out the old switch — unscrew it from the box and ease it out to reach the wiring.
  4. Disconnect the wires — loosen the screws, or if back-inserted, cut and strip the ends.
  5. Wire the new toggle — live to the brass/black screw, neutral to silver (if your switch uses one), ground to the green screw. Tighten each.
  6. Secure the switch — tuck the wires back, align the toggle, fasten with the included screws.
  7. Fit the brass plate over the switch and screw it in.
  8. Power back on at the panel.
  9. Test — toggle up and down; the light or device should switch cleanly.

Brass with weightin the hand

Each switch is made from solid brass rather than plated metal, weighing in heavy for its size. That weight is what gives the toggle its grounded, deliberate action and the clean click you feel through the plate. Handled daily, the brass slowly develops a patina that records the years.

Frequently asked

Yes. It replaces a standard switch on an existing US electrical box in about five minutes. For a safe connection we recommend a licensed electrician, especially if you're not used to wiring.

The Castelnaud is made from solid brass — not plated — which gives it real weight and a finish that lasts. It installs onto a standard US electrical box; we recommend a professional for the connection.

Solid and deliberate. The brass body carries real weight, so the toggle lands on a clean, satisfying click each time — a small, tactile pleasure you notice on every use.

Yes. The Castelnaud is UL Certified, so it meets recognised safety standards for electrical components — important reassurance for something wired into your walls.

The solid-brass build is made for years of daily use. Depending on the finish you choose, the brass either holds its tone or slowly develops a natural patina — both wear gracefully rather than flaking like plated metal.

Yes. It's designed to drop onto an existing US standard electrical box in place of your current switch, so it's a straightforward swap with no new box needed.

It's the weight and the click. Solid brass gives it a grounded feel most switches lack, and the deliberate toggle action turns a routine flick into a small, satisfying detail.

Yes. Its heavy-duty solid-brass build is made for constant use, so it holds up well on the switches you reach for most — entryways, kitchens, and hallways.

Its solid-brass body and choice of aged finishes sit naturally in older interiors, while the clean toggle works just as well in a modern room — so it bridges both without clashing.

Yes. It comes with a 1-year manufacturer warranty, extendable to 2, 3, or 5 years at checkout, covering manufacturing and component issues.
