Installation Guide

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

One shape — repeated across sizes

The Carcabuey doesn't change its language from knob to pull bar — the same clean cylinder just stretches or stays short depending on the job. That consistency is the point: line up a knob on a drawer beside a long pull on a door, and the two read as one coordinated system rather than mismatched hardware. Brushed brass keeps the surface warm under the fingers.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Carcabuey Knob & Pull Bar?

A coordinated cabinet hardware set built from a single clean cylindrical form, offered as a knob, a T-knob, and three pull-bar lengths for full-kitchen consistency.

What material is it made from?

Solid brass throughout, giving every size real weight and a finish that's built to age gracefully rather than look worn after a few years of use.

What design style does it suit best?

A minimal, architectural style — it fits modern kitchens especially well, though its clean lines also work comfortably in more transitional or classic interiors.

Where can this hardware be used?

Kitchens, wardrobes, bathroom vanities, and custom furniture cabinetry all suit it — anywhere a consistent brass hardware system is wanted across multiple pieces.

Which rooms are best for installation?

Anywhere with cabinetry — kitchens and bathrooms are the most common choices, but it works equally well throughout closets, laundry rooms, and built-in storage.

What makes the design unique?

Its consistent cylindrical form runs across every size, so knobs and pulls always read as one coordinated system rather than mismatched pieces from different lines.

Does it feel comfortable to use daily?

Yes — the smooth, rounded profile gives a balanced, comfortable grip that holds up well to the frequent handling a cabinet gets throughout the day.

Will it match neutral interior palettes?

Yes — its clean brass finish sits easily against most neutral cabinetry colours, from soft white to warm oak to deeper charcoal tones.

Is it a good option for contemporary cabinetry upgrades?

Yes — the minimal cylindrical form was built specifically with contemporary spaces in mind, making it an easy hardware swap for a kitchen refresh.

Is it built for long-term performance?

Yes — solid brass construction holds up to years of daily use without losing its shape or finish, and only develops richer character with time.
