The Object

Grain running acrossa wall that feels different

The Buren Wall Panel is a solid wood strip that applies to wall or ceiling and transforms a flat surface into a layered, textured plane. The linear slat profile casts fine shadows as light moves across the room — a quality that changes through the day. Standard panels cover 4.7 sq ft each; custom sizes available. Adhesive or nail gun application.
Why you'll love it
  • Solid wood — real grain, lasting durability
  • Linear slat profile casts shadow lines that shift with the light
  • Applies to walls or ceilings — versatile placement
  • DIY-friendly: adhesive or nail gun installation
  • Custom sizes available on request
Details

Three ways to install, depending on your panel — nail gun, peel-and-stick, or glue-on. Pick the one that matches what you ordered.

Before you begin

  • Prep — walls should be clean, dry, and smooth; remove dust, grease, nails, and flaky paint
  • Layout — measure and mark your starting line with a level and pencil, and lay out panels on the floor first to visualize placement

What you'll need

  • Tape measure, level, pencil or chalk line
  • Utility knife or fine-tooth saw, clean cloth
  • Caulk gun (if using adhesive), rubber roller (for peel-and-stick), brad nail gun (for nail gun install)

Step by step

  1. Nail gun — for thicker or heavier panels like wood/MDF. Locate wall studs with a stud finder and mark them.
  2. Nail gun — start at the bottom corner and align your first panel to your guidelines.
  3. Nail gun — fasten into studs — nails every 12–16".
  4. Nail gun — fit remaining panels tightly together and continue fastening. Fill nail holes with wood filler or color-matched putty. Optionally, add caulk between panels for seamless joints. Leave a 1/8" gap at edges for expansion.
  5. Peel-and-stick — for lightweight panels with pre-applied adhesive. Wipe the wall clean of dust and grease and let it dry fully. Measure and draw a level starting line.
  6. Peel-and-stick — peel and place — remove the adhesive backing from the first panel, align carefully, and press onto the wall starting at one edge.
  7. Peel-and-stick — roll it flat — use a rubber roller to apply even pressure, then continue placing panels tightly against each other. Avoid repositioning — the adhesive is strongest on first contact.
  8. Glue-on — for panels without adhesive, like solid PVC, composite, or acoustic. Clean the wall surface thoroughly.
  9. Glue-on — apply adhesive in an "S" or zig-zag pattern on the back of the panel.
  10. Glue-on — press into place — align to your guide marks and press firmly against the wall. Use painter's tape to hold it if needed.
  11. Glue-on — repeat and finish — continue with remaining panels, keeping spacing even and level. Wipe away any adhesive squeeze-out with a damp cloth. Let adhesive cure 24–48 hours before applying pressure or weight.

The making

Solid wood appliedtexture that reads across the room

Each panel is milled from solid wood, not veneer, which gives the grain depth and consistency that composite alternatives can't replicate. The standard 7.5 x 90-inch slat profile is narrow enough to create a tight rhythm on the wall, but substantial enough to cast a visible shadow line at the right light angle. Custom widths and lengths accommodate non-standard rooms.

Frequently asked

Solid wood — milled from real timber, not veneer or composite board. The grain runs through the full depth of the panel, which gives it a natural look that deepens and settles as the wood acclimates to the room.

Each standard panel measures 7.5 x 90 inches and 1 inch thick (approximately 19 x 229 x 2.5 cm), covering 4.7 sq ft. Multiple panels tile together to cover a full wall or ceiling section.

Yes — custom dimensions are available on request. If your wall or ceiling has non-standard proportions, contact us with your measurements and we'll specify panels to fit without unnecessary cutting on site.

Two methods: construction adhesive applied to the back of the panel, or a nail gun through the face or edge into the wall. Adhesive suits smooth plasterboard; nail gun is preferred for uneven surfaces or ceiling applications.

Any interior wall or ceiling in a dry environment — living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, home offices, and hallways. It's not rated for bathrooms or outdoor use without a specific protective finish applied on site.

The panels ship in natural wood — colour depends on the species and batch. If you'd like a specific tone, panels can be stained or painted after installation; the solid wood surface accepts finishes cleanly.

Yes — adhesive installation in particular is accessible to a confident DIYer. Panels are lightweight and can be trimmed with a standard saw. Measure the wall carefully before ordering to minimise waste.

Dust with a dry or slightly damp cloth. If the wood dries out in low-humidity environments, a thin application of furniture oil or wax restores the surface. Avoid steam or prolonged moisture exposure.

Yes — the linear slat profile reads well in hospitality, retail, and office environments. Commercial projects often use custom sizes to cover larger runs; contact us to discuss volume and lead times.

Yes — a 1-year warranty covers manufacturing defects including grain inconsistency, panel warping, and dimensional inaccuracies. Extended coverage is available on request for commercial projects.
