No — the Budoni plugs into any standard wall socket. Place it on a flat surface, plug in, and use the floor switch. No hardwiring, no mounting, no tools required.
The switch sits at the base of the stem — a small rocker you operate with a light tap of your foot. Tap once to turn on; tap again to turn off. It's designed to work without bending or reaching.
The shade is glass; the stem is an electroplated stainless steel; the base is solid white marble. The marble provides the weight that keeps the lamp stable, while the electroplated finish on the stem resists surface wear.
Very — at 10 kg total weight, the marble base prevents tipping even on rugs and soft floors. It's designed to stand in living areas where furniture is rearranged or children move around.
The Budoni works with any E27 smart bulb — swap the included LED for a smart E27 (Philips Hue, LIFX, or similar) to add voice control or app dimming. The socket itself is standard.

The included E27 LED draws 15W while producing 1500 lm — comparable output to a 75W incandescent bulb at a fifth of the running cost. LEDs at this rating typically last 25,000–50,000 hours.
The included E27 LED is rated at 50,000 hours. At 6 hours of use per day, that's over 20 years before the bulb needs replacing — and when it does, any standard E27 LED will fit.
