The Object

Grooved brassgrip that improves with use

The Brobol is cut from solid brass with a grooved surface that adds grip without demanding attention. The same design language runs across the knob, T-knob, and pull bar so a kitchen and bathroom can share the same hardware from a different angle. Seven bar lengths — from 13 cm to 30 cm — to fit standard and custom cabinet layouts. Brass finish throughout.
Why you'll love it
  • Solid brass — no hollow core, no flex, no plastic
  • Grooved surface — adds grip without changing the overall line
  • Knob, T-knob, and pull bar — one design, three formats
  • Seven bar lengths — 13 cm to 30 cm hole spacings
  • Works on cabinets, drawers, wardrobes, and vanities
Details

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

How it's made

Machined groovesfunction worked into the form

The grooves are machined directly into the solid brass body rather than applied afterward, so they run cleanly to the edges of each piece. The spacing is calibrated for a natural fingertip grip — close enough together to give real traction on a cabinet pull, subtle enough to read as a design detail rather than industrial texture.

Frequently asked

Solid brass throughout — no hollow sections or plastic components. Solid brass provides meaningful weight in the hand, won't crack with temperature changes, and develops a natural patina over years of daily use.

Yes — seven bar lengths and standard hole spacings make the Brobol compatible with most kitchen cabinet layouts. The grooved surface also resists greasy fingerprints more effectively than smooth hardware.

Yes — the machined grooves add real traction for wet or greasy hands, which matters in kitchens and bathrooms. The texture is calibrated to be functional without looking industrial or out of place in a refined interior.

Yes — hardware of this type installs with a single bolt through a pre-drilled cabinet door. A screwdriver and the correct drill bit for your door thickness are the only tools needed. Installation typically takes under a minute per piece.

Yes — the pull bar comes in six lengths (13 to 30 cm) to cover different hole spacings. The knob and T-knob are fixed at their standard dimensions. Choose based on your cabinet's existing hole spacing or the size you want to drill.

Solid brass develops a natural patina with daily use — a gradual deepening of tone rather than a deterioration of surface. This is a characteristic of the material, not a flaw. If you prefer it bright, occasional polishing with a brass-safe cloth will restore the original finish.

Yes — the grooved design sits between industrial and classic, which makes it compatible with Shaker kitchens, modern flat-front cabinetry, and transitional furniture alike. The brass finish reads warm across all of those contexts.

Yes — solid brass and the sealed brass finish resist bathroom humidity well. The grooved surface is also practical for a bathroom context where hands are frequently wet.

The knob, T-knob, or pull bar you select, along with the mounting bolt and any required hardware. Everything needed for installation is included — no sourcing of additional fixings required.

Wipe with a dry or lightly damp cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. For heavier residue, a soft cloth with a small amount of mild soap works well — rinse with water and dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which can scratch the surface and disrupt the patina.
