The Object

Wood above, frosted glass belowwarmth from both

The Bodetal Ceiling Light combines a broad wooden shade with a frosted glass globe below it — the wood frames the ceiling-side with natural warmth, the frosted glass diffuses the G9 LED into a soft, even glow beneath. At 35 cm across and 17 cm deep, it sits low enough for standard ceilings without crowding the room. A quiet piece that sits at the junction of natural and modern without declaring either.
Why you'll love it
  • Wood shade and frosted glass — natural warmth, soft diffusion
  • Low-profile at 17 cm — fits standard ceiling heights comfortably
  • Replaceable G9 LED included — easy to swap, long-lasting
  • Sloped-ceiling compatible · dimmable on request
  • Works across contemporary, rustic, and minimalist interiors
Details

A close-to-ceiling install for low-clearance rooms — power off, mount the bracket, match the wires, done.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — direct to a standard ceiling junction box; sits close against the ceiling
  • Dimming — most socketed models dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Ceilings — flat ceilings only; for vaulted or sloped ceilings, look at semi-flush or pendant options instead
  • Power — hardwired to your home's electrical system

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — shut it off at the breaker panel and confirm with a voltage tester.
  2. Remove the fixture cover — twist or unclip the outer shade or base cover to expose the mounting plate and wiring.
  3. Install the mounting bracket — attach it to the ceiling junction box with the supplied screws, secure and level.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the junction box.
  5. Attach the fixture base — lift into place, align with the bracket, and secure with the provided screws so it sits flush against the ceiling.
  6. Reattach the cover — twist, clip, or fasten the decorative cover or diffuser back on.
  7. Restore power and test.

Good to know

  • Great for standard or low ceilings — hallways, bedrooms, closets.
  • Confirm your junction box can support the fixture's weight.
  • Follow local electrical codes.
  • When in doubt, bring in a licensed electrician.

On the material

Wood grain above, frosted glass belowone quiet piece

The broad wooden shade sits flat against the ceiling, its grain visible from below and the sides. The frosted glass globe hangs below it — small relative to the wood disc, centred, doing its job of diffusing the G9 LED without drawing attention. Iron hardware connects both, finished in brown to match the wood.

Frequently asked

Three materials: an iron ceiling plate and hardware in brown, a broad wooden shade that forms the upper disc, and a frosted glass globe below that. The combination keeps the piece light enough for standard ceiling loads while bringing in natural texture.

A G9 LED — a small base common in ceiling fixtures. The bulb is included; replacements are available from any lighting or hardware supplier when needed.

Yes — a G9 LED (5W / 500 lm) is included and fitted. It's a standard base, so when it eventually needs replacing, any compatible G9 LED works in its place.

Yes — the frosted glass globe is removable to access the G9 socket. Turn off the power, allow the bulb to cool, then unscrew the globe and swap in a replacement. No tools required.

The Bodetal is hardwired and mounts to a standard ceiling junction box. A certified electrician is recommended for the electrical connection; the physical mount is straightforward with the included hardware.

Yes — at 17 cm deep, the Bodetal sits close enough to the ceiling to work in rooms with limited clearance. The broad wooden shade reads flat from below, so it doesn't appear to drop into the room.

Living rooms, dining areas, bedrooms, and kitchens — any space where a soft, natural ceiling light works. The wood and frosted glass combination sits well in contemporary, rustic, and Scandinavian-influenced interiors.

At 5W / 500 lm, the Bodetal is best suited for medium rooms or as a supplementary light in larger ones. For open-plan living areas, pair it with floor or table lamps for a layered lighting scheme.

No — the Bodetal is designed for dry indoor use only. Wood and glass are not rated for exposure to moisture, humidity, or outdoor conditions.

Contemporary, rustic, Scandinavian, and minimalist interiors all work well. The natural wood tone and frosted glass are quiet enough not to compete with stronger design statements while still bringing warmth and texture to a plain ceiling.
