The Object

Ribbed and warmlight filtered through clay

The Blainville sets a polished copper fitting against a ribbed ceramic shade — a pairing where the texture does the work. Light passes through the ribs and lands softly below, no hotspots, no bare bulb in view. A single E27 LED, replaceable, compact enough for a bedside or generous enough over a dining table.
Why you'll love it
  • Ribbed ceramic shade filters the glow, softening every shadow
  • Polished copper fitting — warm contrast against the ceramic
  • Focused downward light — precise without being harsh
  • Replaceable E27 LED bulb included
  • Dimmable on request · sloped-ceiling compatible on request
Details

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

Good to know

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

On the form

Copper aboveceramic below, softening the source

The ribbed profile isn't decoration — it breaks the light into a diffused wash before it reaches the room. Ceramic holds heat differently than glass, giving the glow a slightly warmer quality. The brass finish on the copper fitting deepens the contrast without competing.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
Three things that make it work.
Soft output

Ribbed ceramic breaks the beam into an even, comfortable wash with no visible hotspot.

Warm contrast

Polished copper in a brass finish sets off the ceramic shade with understated warmth.

Easy to service

Replaceable E27 LED means no rewiring needed when the bulb eventually dims.

Frequently asked

The shade is ribbed ceramic; the fitting and canopy are copper with a brass finish. Both materials are built for longevity — ceramic doesn't scratch, and the brass finish holds its tone without polishing.

Yes — one LED E27 bulb is included. It's also replaceable, so when it eventually dims after its long lifespan you simply swap it out without any rewiring.

It uses a standard E27 base, which is widely available in LED. The included bulb runs at 15W and outputs 1500 lm — warm enough for ambient use, bright enough for a dining table.

Yes, straightforwardly — the E27 bulb screws in and out like any standard fitting. No specialist tools or rewiring required. Any E27 LED will fit.

Focused downward illumination, diffused by the ribbing into a soft, even wash. The ceramic breaks up the beam so there are no visible hotspots — comfortable to sit under and warm to look at.

It works particularly well over a dining table, kitchen island, or bedside — anywhere you want focused downward light with a warm, room-friendly quality. The compact size suits lower ceilings too.

It runs on 90–260V AC, covering standard voltages worldwide. No additional adapter or transformer is needed for international installations.

Not at all — the ceramic-and-copper combination works in a range of interiors, from contemporary to transitional to warm Scandinavian. The ribbed shade reads as a material choice rather than a strong style statement.

One bulb — an E27 LED, included. The single-source design keeps the form clean and the light precise. You can swap to a warmer or cooler E27 LED if you want to adjust the tone.

We recommend it. The Blainville is hardwired, so a certified electrician should make the ceiling connection. Once installed, the shade and bulb are easy to handle yourself — no specialist help needed for maintenance.
