The Object

Stone abovesoftness below

The Bernesq Ceiling Light puts two materials in quiet conversation: a terrazzo canopy speckled with texture and depth, and a smooth spherical glass shade that turns a single LED into a calm, even glow. Neither material shouts. Together they make a ceiling fixture that adds character without demanding it — suited to hallways, bedrooms, and living spaces where the light should feel settled rather than decorative.
Why you'll love it
  • Terrazzo canopy adds subtle texture and material depth to the ceiling
  • Spherical glass diffuser softens the LED into a calm, balanced glow
  • Compact form — works in smaller rooms and lower ceilings
  • Copper accents with a brass finish — built to last
  • Replaceable G9 LED included · dimmable on request
Details

A close-to-ceiling install for low-clearance rooms — power off, mount the bracket, match the wires, done.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — direct to a standard ceiling junction box; sits close against the ceiling
  • Dimming — most socketed models dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Ceilings — flat ceilings only; for vaulted or sloped ceilings, look at semi-flush or pendant options instead
  • Power — hardwired to your home's electrical system

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — shut it off at the breaker panel and confirm with a voltage tester.
  2. Remove the fixture cover — twist or unclip the outer shade or base cover to expose the mounting plate and wiring.
  3. Install the mounting bracket — attach it to the ceiling junction box with the supplied screws, secure and level.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the junction box.
  5. Attach the fixture base — lift into place, align with the bracket, and secure with the provided screws so it sits flush against the ceiling.
  6. Reattach the cover — twist, clip, or fasten the decorative cover or diffuser back on.
  7. Restore power and test.

Good to know

  • Great for standard or low ceilings — hallways, bedrooms, closets.
  • Confirm your junction box can support the fixture's weight.
  • Follow local electrical codes.
  • When in doubt, bring in a licensed electrician.

How it's made

Terrazzopattern that comes from the material, not the mould

Terrazzo is made by setting stone chips into a base and grinding it smooth — so every canopy has a slightly different pattern depending on how the chips settled. The Bernesq uses this to give each fixture a quiet individuality: same form, different story on the ceiling. Below it, the glass sphere keeps things calm, diffusing the light into an even wash rather than a visible point.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
Three things working together in a compact package.
Terrazzo texture

Each canopy carries a unique chip pattern — natural variation that adds material richness overhead.

Balanced glow

The spherical glass diffuser spreads light evenly — soft, warm, and free of hotspots.

Compact clarity

A small footprint makes it easy to place in rooms where larger fixtures would feel overscaled.

Frequently asked

The canopy is terrazzo — stone chips set in a base and ground flat, giving each one a slightly different surface pattern. The shade is smooth spherical glass, and the fittings are copper with a brass finish.

Yes — a G9 LED bulb is included. It's replaceable, so when it eventually needs changing, standard G9 bulbs are widely available from hardware and lighting stores.

A G9 base — a compact bi-pin bulb commonly used in ceiling and wall fixtures. The fixture is rated at 5W; matching or going below that wattage keeps the heat and performance consistent.

Yes — the G9 fitting is accessible once the shade is removed. A standard G9 LED in warm or cool white will fit without any modification to the fixture.

A calm, even ambient glow. The spherical glass diffuses the G9 LED evenly across the room — no visible hotspot, no harsh centre point. It lights the space gently rather than brightly.

Hallways, bedrooms, entryways, and living spaces all suit it. The compact form — 11 or 15 cm diameter — means it works in rooms where a larger fixture would feel out of proportion.

Yes — 5W for 500 lm of output is efficient for an ambient ceiling light. The G9 LED runs cool and consumes far less power than an equivalent incandescent, with a much longer rated lifespan.

90–260V — compatible with standard household wiring worldwide. No step-down transformer or adapter is needed for typical residential or commercial installations.

Modern, minimalist, and design-focused spaces respond well to it — the terrazzo adds texture without pattern, and the glass sphere keeps the form clean. It also works in transitional and Scandinavian-inspired rooms.

One G9 LED bulb is included per fixture. The Bernesq is a single-source pendant — one bulb, one diffuser, one even glow. Simple to set up, simple to maintain.
