Installation Guide

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

Yes — because the Batiste is a hardwired fixture supporting substantial stone, we strongly recommend a certified electrician. Mounting hardware and instructions are included.

What materials are used in the design?

The shades are hand-selected Spanish alabaster marble, each piece chosen individually for its translucence and natural veining. The frame is metal, finished in white.

How energy-efficient is the fixture?

The Batiste uses an integrated LED rated at 20W (2200 lm) — efficient for a fixture of this scale. LEDs have a long operational life and no replacement is needed.

Is the fixture suitable for dimmable lights?

Not natively, but if you order the dimmable configuration, many smart dimmers (e.g. Lutron, Leviton) are compatible. Check with your electrician for the best pairing for your system.

Can it be used in both living and dining areas?

Absolutely — the Batiste is sized and scaled for large rooms. It works well centred over a dining table or as a statement piece in a double-height living space or entryway.

How is the light distributed in the room?

Light passes through each alabaster slab rather than reflecting off it — the result is a warm, diffused ambient glow with no harsh hotspots. The whole stone surface becomes the light source.
