Angled cut—direction built into the shade
The angled cut at the base controls where light exits — deliberately aimed, never accidental.
23 cm for low ceilings, 35 cm mid-range, 60 cm for high drops over islands or tables.
Aluminium in black or white — low-reflectance surface that doesn't compete for attention.
The shade is extruded aluminium with a matte-coated finish in black or white. Lightweight but rigid, the aluminium keeps its form and finish without denting or fading through daily use.
Three heights at the same 6.7 cm diameter: 23 cm for compact drops, 35 cm for mid-length use, and 60 cm for high-ceiling rooms or over-island installations where a longer column suits the space.
Black and white — both matte. Black recedes against dark or neutral ceilings; white blends into lighter, Scandi-influenced interiors. Both finishes carry the same aluminium construction underneath.
GU10 — a twist-lock base widely used in track and pendant lighting. The included LED bulb is replaceable, so when it eventually reaches end of life any standard GU10 LED fits as a replacement.
Yes — a 12W GU10 LED bulb (1200 lm) is included with every Balling pendant. No additional purchase is needed to get started.
No — the Balling is for indoor use only. The aluminium housing and cord are not sealed against moisture or rain. For covered outdoor areas, you'd need a fixture with an appropriate IP rating.
Yes — the cord adjusts up to 1.2 m from the canopy. Excess cord coils inside the canopy and is not visible once installed. Adjustment is set at installation and doesn't require re-wiring.
Dimmable on request — let us know at checkout and we configure the fixture for wall-dimmer compatibility. The GU10 socket also accepts any dimmable GU10 LED for use with compatible wall switches.
Hallways, dining tables, kitchen islands, and bedside use are the strongest fits. The directional output makes it well suited wherever you want focused ambient light — not a floodlight, but a considered pool of glow.
Hardwired to a standard ceiling junction box. Fix the canopy, thread the cord to the desired length, connect to your ceiling wiring, and snap the cylinder into the cord grip. Professional installation by a certified electrician is recommended.
