The Object

Six faceseach one a clean cut

The Baelum Knob is a hexagon cut from solid brass — each flat face meeting the next at a precise edge, so the form reads as geometric rather than decorative. The tapered stem gives it a confident grip; the knurling-free surface keeps it clean. Two sizes, three finishes: black, brass, bronze. For cabinets and drawers that deserve more than a plain round knob.
Why you'll love it
  • Hexagonal form — six precision-cut faces for an architectural look
  • Solid brass construction — weighty and built to last
  • Tapered stem provides a secure, comfortable grip
  • Three finishes: black, brass, bronze
  • Two sizes — 2.3 cm and 3.1 cm diameter
Details

Includes the solid-brass plate, toggle mechanism, and mounting hardware. A straightforward swap for an existing switch — power off, match the wires, screw the plate back on.

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power at your breaker or fuse box.
  2. Remove the old cover plate — unscrew it and set it aside.
  3. Take out the old switch — unscrew it from the box and ease it out to reach the wiring.
  4. Disconnect the wires — loosen the screws, or if back-inserted, cut and strip the ends.
  5. Wire the new toggle — live to the brass/black screw, neutral to silver (if your switch uses one), ground to the green screw. Tighten each.
  6. Secure the switch — tuck the wires back, align the toggle, fasten with the included screws.
  7. Fit the brass plate over the switch and screw it in.
  8. Power back on at the panel.
  9. Test — toggle up and down; the light or device should switch cleanly.

On the form

Hexagonalwhere geometry becomes hardware

The Baelum is cut rather than cast — each of its six faces is machined to a flat plane that meets the next at a sharp, consistent edge. That precision is visible close up and readable from across the room: the knob catches light differently on each face, so it shifts in tone as the room's light changes. A round knob has one silhouette; the Baelum has six.

What makes the Baelum worth the close look.
Cut geometry

Six machined faces catch light at different angles — the knob shifts in tone as you move around it.

Solid brass

No hollow core, no plastic parts — solid brass throughout, weighted to feel right in the hand.

Two sizes

2.3 cm for drawers and small doors; 3.1 cm for larger cabinet fronts and wardrobe panels.

Frequently asked

Solid brass — not plated over another material. The brass core gives the knob its weight and warmth, and the finish is applied directly to the brass surface rather than over a base metal.

Contemporary and industrial spaces respond best to the hexagonal geometry — it's a form that suits clean-lined cabinetry. In the brass finish it also works in transitional and warm-toned interiors where metal accents are already present.

Cabinet doors, drawer fronts, wardrobe panels, and cupboard doors. The 2.3 cm size works well on smaller drawer fronts; the 3.1 cm suits larger cabinet doors where a smaller knob would look underscaled.

The precision-cut hexagonal form. Each of its six flat faces is machined to a consistent edge — not cast smooth but cut sharp, so the knob catches light at six different angles and reads as an architectural detail, not just hardware.

Yes — the tapered stem is designed to sit naturally between the fingers. The flat faces give your fingertips purchase without needing knurling; the weight of the solid brass makes the grip feel confident and settled.

Three: black (graphic and contemporary), brass (warm, classic), and bronze (deep and rich, suited to darker or earthy interiors). All three are applied to the solid brass core and finished to resist everyday wear.

Yes — the Baelum mounts with a single screw through a standard cabinet hole. Measure the existing hole spacing on your cabinetry before ordering; most cabinet knob holes are 32 mm or 64 mm centre-to-centre.

Yes — the smaller knob (D 2.3 cm) weighs 45 g and the larger (D 3.1 cm) weighs 85 g. The weight difference is noticeable in the hand; both are heavier than hollow-cast alternatives.

Yes — solid brass doesn't chip, crack, or delaminate the way plated finishes can over time. Daily use will give the surface a gentle patina rather than wearing it down; brass improves in character with use.

Yes — the solid brass construction handles high-frequency use well. The finish is durable enough for commercial cabinetry in hospitality, retail, and office environments where hardware takes more daily contact than residential use.
