Installation Guide

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

A frame — that holds the texture in

The Arties starts as a flat oval, then gets its edge defined with a crisp raised frame before the center face is patterned. That framing does real work — it keeps the eye on the knob without making it loud, and it gives your fingers a clear boundary to find in the dark. Solid brass throughout means the weight matches the look.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What material is the Arties Cabinet Knob made of?

Solid brass, cut and finished to a substantial weight — it's built to be handled dozens of times a day without feeling flimsy or hollow.

What type of design does the Arties Cabinet Knob have?

A refined oval silhouette with a raised frame running around a finely textured center face — architectural, but not overly ornate.

What makes the face of the Arties Cabinet Knob unique?

A finely textured surface that catches light unevenly and adds a tactile grip, rather than the flat, featureless face most brass knobs settle for.

What finish does the Arties Cabinet Knob come in?

Vintage brass, gold, or chrome — each finish shifts the tone of the same oval form, so you can match it to warm or cool cabinetry.

Do the edges of the Arties Cabinet Knob have detailing?

Yes — a crisp raised frame runs around the full oval, giving the knob a defined architectural edge that reads clearly against flat cabinet fronts.

Is the Arties Cabinet Knob comfortable to grip?

Yes — the textured face and ergonomic proportions make it easy to hold securely, even with wet or soapy hands in a kitchen or bathroom.

Where can I use the Arties Cabinet Knob?

Kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, bathroom vanities, and general furniture all suit it — anywhere you need hardware with real presence and grip.

Does the Arties Cabinet Knob work for both cabinets and furniture?

Yes — its compact size and weighted feel suit both fitted cabinetry and standalone furniture pieces, from kitchen drawers to a dresser front.

What interior styles does the Arties Cabinet Knob suit best?

It moves easily between modern and classic interiors, thanks to a restrained, framed shape that reads as detail rather than statement hardware.

Why will I love the Arties Cabinet Knob?

It's solid brass with real texture and genuine weight — the kind of hardware detail that only gets better looking the longer you own it.
