Installation Guide

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

Weight — cast into a small form

Solid brass gives the Areny Knob real heft for its size, so it never feels like a hollow stand-in. The surface carries a soft texture rather than a mirror polish, adding grip and visual depth. Vintage brass finish darkens naturally with handling over time.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What material is the Areny Knob made from?

Solid brass, through and through — not plated over another metal and not hollow inside, so the weight in your hand is genuinely the material itself.

How will the finish change over time?

The vintage brass finish deepens naturally with handling, developing a richer, warmer patina the more it's touched — every fingerprint of daily use becomes part of its character.

What type of spaces is it suited for?

Kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, bathroom vanities, and built-in furniture all suit it well — anywhere a small, weighty round detail can stand on its own without extra hardware around it.

Where can the Areny Knob be installed?

Cupboards, cabinets, drawers, and wardrobes — anywhere a small round pull is needed, mounted with or without the backing plate depending on your existing hardware layout.

How is the Areny Knob constructed?

It's cast from solid brass with a softly textured surface, available with or without a backing plate, so the same knob adapts to different cabinet-door thicknesses and styles.

What defines its design?

A clean circular silhouette with balanced proportions and a subtly textured face — restrained enough to sit quietly, distinctive enough to register as a considered detail.

What kind of surface finish does it have?

A softly textured surface in a vintage brass finish, adding visual depth beyond a flat polish and giving the fingers something to hold onto beyond a smooth round.

Does the knob feel substantial in hand?

Yes — the solid brass construction gives it real weight for a compact piece, so it never feels like a lightweight stand-in for something more solid.

How does it affect cabinetry visually?

It adds a quiet, sculptural focal point without overwhelming the cabinet front, letting the brass tone and texture do the work rather than an oversized or ornate shape.

Is it suitable for daily use?

Yes — solid brass construction is built for frequent handling and everyday wear, and the finish is designed to improve with use rather than show it as damage.
