Brass—cut, knurled, finished by hand
Each Ardeche is machined from a solid brass billet; the grip section is then knurled on a lathe. The finish — polished, Vintage Brass, or Night Black — is applied last over the complete machined form. No casting, no hollow sections. A solid object that will outlast the door it is fitted to.
Hardware—the detail that gets touched
Most hardware decisions happen once and go unnoticed. The Ardeche is different — it is one of the few objects in your home you interact with dozens of times a day. The weight, the grip, the click of the latch: each moment accumulates. The design is built around that contact.

Solid brass throughout — no plastic internals, no filler alloys. The knurled grip, rosette, and latch mechanism are all brass. That consistency is what gives it the weight and feel of a quality piece of hardware.
Three finishes: polished Brass, Vintage Brass (a warmer, antiqued tone), and Night Black. Each is applied to the same solid brass base, so the underlying material quality is identical across all three.
Square or round rosette. The square plate gives a clean geometric look; the round reads softer and more classical. Both sit flush to the door and use the same fixing hardware — it's purely an aesthetic choice.
Four configurations: Privacy (locks from inside, for bathrooms and bedrooms), Passage (free-turning, no lock — for hallways and closets), Mortice Lock with Keys (keyed entry), and Dummy (pull-only, no latch — for decorative or bi-fold doors).
Functional first. The knurled pattern creates mechanical grip so the lever turns confidently even with wet or soapy hands. The visual effect — the way it catches light — is a byproduct of that engineering decision, not the reason for it.
Designed primarily for interior doors, where it performs best. For sheltered exterior doors the solid brass holds up well; for fully exposed applications, confirm with a joiner. We ship worldwide free, typically 15–21 business days.
The handle accommodates standard door thicknesses. If your door is non-standard — thicker than 55 mm or thinner than 35 mm — contact us before ordering and we can advise on spindle length and latch depth.
The Ardeche reads cleanly in modern, transitional, and industrial interiors. In Vintage Brass it also fits warmer, classical spaces. The knurled cylinder is a strong enough form to hold its own in minimal rooms without reading as decorative.
Vintage Brass is a surface treatment applied to a standard brass substrate. Small internal components — spindles, fixing screws — are left in natural brass since they're not visible in use. This has no effect on the handle's appearance or performance.
