The Object

Lit from insidethrough ribbed glass

The Ansouis is a classic bell form with a detail that earns its place: fine vertical ribs pressed into the glass, which break the bulb's glow into soft, patterned bands. Brass brings warmth to the arm and canopy; white iron keeps it restrained. One E27 bulb, one pendant — enough for a kitchen nook, a dining corner, or a bedside hung low.
Why you'll love it
  • Ribbed glass casts patterned light and shadow across walls and ceiling
  • Brass or white iron — two very different tonal directions, same form
  • Replaceable E27 bulb — wide availability, easy swap when needed
  • Adjustable cord up to 3.9 ft fits high and low ceilings alike
  • Sloped-ceiling compatible with universal 90–260 V voltage
Details

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

Good to know

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

The finish

Brasswarm metal that earns its keep

The brass hardware — arm, canopy, and socket ring — sits against the ribbed glass in a pairing that reads considered rather than decorative. Brass develops a faint patina under light and air: not a flaw but a sign of a material doing what it does. The glass beside it stays clear and consistent, the two working in counterpoint — one alive and evolving, one crisp and fixed.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
Three construction details worth knowing.
Ribbed Glass

Vertical ribs diffuse the bulb into soft bands — shadow and glow playing together on surrounding surfaces.

Two Finishes

Brass for warm traditional rooms; white iron for contemporary or Scandi-leaning interiors.

E27 Base

Standard replaceable socket — fits a wide range of LED bulbs, dimmable on request.

Frequently asked

The shade is glass with fine vertical ribbing. The arm, canopy, and socket ring are either brass or iron depending on the finish chosen — both are solid metals suited for long-term hanging use.

An E27 base — the most common residential bulb socket. Any E27 LED up to the rated wattage fits. We recommend a warm-white (2700–3000 K) LED to complement the glass and brass tones.

Yes — a compatible LED bulb is included. If you prefer a different colour temperature or wattage, any standard E27 LED fits the socket directly.

90–260 V, covering electrical systems in virtually all countries worldwide. No voltage converter is needed.

Kitchens, dining rooms, entryways, and bedrooms all work well. The single-bulb scale suits intimate spaces, or cluster three over a long dining table for a fuller effect.

The vertical ribs refract the bulb's output into soft bands, projecting quiet light-and-shadow patterns onto surrounding walls and the ceiling. The overall effect is warmer and more textured than plain glass.

Yes — brass and white are both available. Brass suits warmer palettes and natural materials; white suits cleaner, more contemporary or Scandi-inspired rooms.

The bell form and ribbed glass sit comfortably in vintage, mid-century, transitional, and Scandi interiors. It avoids the sharp edges of industrial design while remaining far from ornate.

One. The single-bulb configuration is what allows the ribbed shade to do its job — one concentrated source filtered through texture produces something more interesting than multiple diffused ones.

The included 15 W LED produces 1500 lm — sufficient for a dining table, kitchen island, or reading nook. Dimming is available on request when ordering; confirm at checkout.
