The Object

Patterned glassa calmer kind of bright

The Newel Ceiling Light mounts an iron frame in brass to the ceiling and hangs globe shades of chevron-textured glass from each arm. The pattern breaks up the bulb, sending light out in all directions without the glare of a bare source. Six heads cover a standard room; eight heads work for larger spaces. Replaceable E27 LEDs, semi-flush for rooms where drop space is limited.
Why you'll love it
  • Chevron-textured glass — breaks up the bulb, removes glare
  • Iron frame in a brass finish — works in classic or modern rooms
  • 6 or 8 heads — right-sized for different room dimensions
  • Semi-flush mount — suits rooms with lower ceiling clearance
  • Replaceable E27 LEDs · dimmable on request · sloped ceiling on request
Details

A close-to-ceiling install for low-clearance rooms — power off, mount the bracket, match the wires, done.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — direct to a standard ceiling junction box; sits close against the ceiling
  • Dimming — most socketed models dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Ceilings — flat ceilings only; for vaulted or sloped ceilings, look at semi-flush or pendant options instead
  • Power — hardwired to your home's electrical system

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — shut it off at the breaker panel and confirm with a voltage tester.
  2. Remove the fixture cover — twist or unclip the outer shade or base cover to expose the mounting plate and wiring.
  3. Install the mounting bracket — attach it to the ceiling junction box with the supplied screws, secure and level.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the junction box.
  5. Attach the fixture base — lift into place, align with the bracket, and secure with the provided screws so it sits flush against the ceiling.
  6. Reattach the cover — twist, clip, or fasten the decorative cover or diffuser back on.
  7. Restore power and test.

Good to know

  • Great for standard or low ceilings — hallways, bedrooms, closets.
  • Confirm your junction box can support the fixture's weight.
  • Follow local electrical codes.
  • When in doubt, bring in a licensed electrician.

On the glass

Chevron cutlight scattered, not focused

The Newel Ceiling Light's globe shades are pressed with a chevron relief that runs around the full circumference. The texture intercepts the bulb and scatters the light across all planes before it leaves the shade — the room brightens, the source disappears. The brass frame anchors the whole arrangement without competing with it.
