Installation Guide

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

The Filskov works in two planes: the orbs sit forward on curved arms at the outer edge; the circular panels recede behind them toward the canopy. This front-to-back layering creates shadow and depth even when viewed straight-on — a fixture that reads differently as you move around it.

Replaceable E14 LED bulbs, included in the box. E14 is a standard base size widely available from lighting and hardware retailers, so replacements are easy to source when needed.

Is the chandelier height adjustable?

Yes — the cord adjusts up to 1.7 m (approximately 5.6 ft). Set the hanging height at installation to position the fixture correctly for your ceiling height and the space below it.

The 6-head configuration delivers 30W at 3000 lm — solid ambient output for a dining room or lounge of 15–25 square metres. For larger spaces, pair with wall sconces or supplementary lighting to fill the perimeter.

Can it be installed on sloped ceilings?

On request — let us know at checkout and we'll configure the canopy for a sloped ceiling installation. The adjustable cord handles the height; the canopy angle is the element that requires modification.

What is the recommended ceiling height for installation?

For dining use, position the bottom of the fixture approximately 75–85 cm above the table surface. In a standard 2.7 m ceiling room, that places the canopy at a comfortable height. Higher ceilings may benefit from the full 1.7 m drop.

Is professional installation required?

Yes — the Filskov is hardwired to a mains junction box via a pipe-erected fitting. It weighs 6–8 kg, so a secure ceiling anchor is essential. We recommend installation by a certified electrician.

What is the maintenance process for this chandelier?

Dust the metal arms and glass orbs periodically with a soft dry cloth. The frosted glass can be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth if needed — avoid abrasive materials on either the glass or the metal finish. E14 bulbs are straightforward to replace.
