Installation Guide

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

What is the return policy?

We offer a 14-day return window from delivery. The item must be in its original condition and packaging. Contact our team and we'll arrange the return — free worldwide shipping means no return-freight surprises.

How long does shipping take?

Bough Pendant Light ships free worldwide and typically arrives in 15–21 business days. You'll receive a tracking number once your order dispatches.

Is this fixture compatible with dimmer switches?

Dimming is available on request — let us know when ordering and we'll configure it. The standard version runs at full output on any compatible switch.

What materials are used in this fixture?

The globe is mottled glass — a texture that scatters the light into soft colour bands. The cord and canopy are standard black fittings.

Can it be used in outdoor settings?

No — the Bough is rated for indoor use only. The glass globe and cord fittings are not sealed against moisture or weather.

How do I install this fixture?

Two options: hang from the ceiling via the cord (up to 1.2 m, sloped-ceiling compatible), or fix to the wall with the included brackets. Plug into any standard socket — no hardwiring needed.

What type of light bulbs does it use?

A G4 LED base. The bulb is not included — pick warm white (approx. 2700K) or cool white (4000–6000K) to suit your room. G4 bulbs are widely available.

Is professional installation recommended?

For the wall-bracket or hardwired ceiling version, yes — we recommend a certified electrician. The plug-in cord version needs no installation at all.

Does it come with a warranty?

Yes — 1-year warranty as standard, extendable to 2 or 3 years. Covers manufacturing defects and electrical faults. Contact us and we'll sort it quickly.

Is it energy-efficient?

Yes. At 5W with a 50,000-hour LED lifespan, the Bough uses a fraction of the energy of an equivalent incandescent — years of daily use without a bulb change.
