Installation Guide

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

The Boningale hardwires to a standard ceiling junction box. We recommend installation by a certified electrician — particularly for ceiling canopy placement and load confirmation on longer bar fixtures.

Aluminium bar and hardware with an acrylic diffuser panel running the full length. Aluminium is chosen for its strength-to-weight ratio and the clean matte black finish it holds without maintenance.

How do I adjust the light settings?

The three colour temperatures are switchable via the wall switch — cycle through warm, neutral, and cool white with each click. Dimming is available on request and configured at the time of order.

What is the expected lifespan?

The integrated LED is rated at 50,000+ hours. At 6 hours of daily use, that's over 22 years before any degradation in output — and the aluminium frame will outlast the LED comfortably.

Is it suitable for use in restaurants or bars?

Does it come with a warranty?

Yes — a 1-year warranty as standard, extendable to 2, 3, or 5 years. We also offer 14-day returns if the fixture doesn't work for your space.

How energy-efficient is this fixture?

At 55W for 5500 lm, the Boningale produces roughly the output of a 250W incandescent strip at a fifth of the running cost. The 50,000-hour LED lifespan also eliminates bulb replacement costs entirely.

Is the Boningale Pendant Light dimmable?

Yes, on request. Let us know when ordering and the integrated LED will be configured for trailing-edge dimmer compatibility. The colour temperature switching remains available alongside dimming.

Is it easy to clean and maintain?

The matte black aluminium wipes clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth. The acrylic diffuser can be cleaned with a soft cloth — avoid abrasive cleaners that can scratch the surface and affect light diffusion.
