Installation Guide

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

Is installation hardware included?

Yes — everything you need for both ceiling and wall installation is in the box, including the canopy plate and wall brackets. A certified electrician is recommended for hardwiring.

How do I install it?

For ceiling use, connect to a standard junction box via the adjustable cord. For wall use, fix the included brackets to a stud or wall anchor. Professional installation is recommended for hardwired setups.

What materials is this made from?

The fitting is iron, finished in brass or matte black. The shade is glass, treated to resist temperature changes and fading over time.

Is it compatible with dimmer switches?

Dimming is available on request — let us know when ordering and we'll configure it. The included E27 LED works with most standard dimmers once set up this way.

Does it come with a warranty?

Yes — the Blidö comes with a 1-year warranty, extendable to 2 or 3 years. If anything isn't right, reach out and we'll sort it.

How do I clean and maintain it?

Wipe the iron fitting with a dry or slightly damp cloth. For the glass shade, a soft lint-free cloth keeps it clear. Avoid abrasive cleaners — the finish holds up well with minimal care.

Can it be used in damp areas?

The Blidö is rated for dry indoor use only — bedrooms, hallways, dining rooms. It isn't sealed against moisture, so bathrooms or covered outdoor areas aren't suitable.

Is it energy-efficient?

Yes — the integrated LED runs at 10W and outputs 1000 lm, comparable to a 60–75W incandescent. The LEDs are long-lasting, so you won't be replacing them often.

Are replacement parts available?

The E27 bulb is a standard size, replaceable from any hardware or lighting supplier. Contact us if you need a replacement canopy or cord component — we keep spares.
