Installation Guide

A close-to-ceiling install for low-clearance rooms — power off, mount the bracket, match the wires, done.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — direct to a standard ceiling junction box; sits close against the ceiling
  • Dimming — most socketed models dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Ceilings — flat ceilings only; for vaulted or sloped ceilings, look at semi-flush or pendant options instead
  • Power — hardwired to your home's electrical system

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — shut it off at the breaker panel and confirm with a voltage tester.
  2. Remove the fixture cover — twist or unclip the outer shade or base cover to expose the mounting plate and wiring.
  3. Install the mounting bracket — attach it to the ceiling junction box with the supplied screws, secure and level.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the junction box.
  5. Attach the fixture base — lift into place, align with the bracket, and secure with the provided screws so it sits flush against the ceiling.
  6. Reattach the cover — twist, clip, or fasten the decorative cover or diffuser back on.
  7. Restore power and test.

The Gangway uses an acrylic panel as its diffuser — a material that scatters LED output evenly across its surface area, eliminating the hot centre that flat-glass fittings can show. What materials are used in the construction?

The body is iron, the diffuser is acrylic. Iron gives structural rigidity and a clean edge; acrylic spreads the LED output evenly across the face without the weight of glass.

Is it suitable for both modern and traditional interiors?

The Gangway's clean disc form reads modern and minimalist. It works well in contemporary, Scandinavian, and open-plan spaces — less suited to ornate or period interiors where a more decorative form would be expected.

How energy-efficient is the lighting?

At 22W and 2420 lm, the Gangway delivers roughly the same output as a 150W incandescent at a fraction of the running cost. The integrated LED adds no replacement bulb expense over its life.

Does it come with different lighting modes?

Yes — three modes: cool white for task lighting, warm white for ambient evenings, and a trichromatic mode that cycles through or holds a selected colour temperature. Set via the wall switch.

How long is the operating life of the LEDs?

The integrated LED is rated to 50,000 hours — over 17 years at 8 hours per day. No bulb changes are needed over the fixture's practical life.

What voltage range does it support?

90–260V — the full global range. No transformer or adaptor is needed regardless of your local voltage standard.

Is the installation hardware included?

Yes — all mounting brackets and screws are included. The Gangway hardwires to a standard ceiling junction box; a certified electrician is recommended for the mains connection.

Can it be mounted on both ceiling and wall?

Yes — the fixture supports both ceiling and wall installation with the included hardware. Wall installation positions it as an uplighter or feature light rather than a ceiling flush mount.

How does the light distribution look?

The acrylic diffuser spreads light across the full face of the fixture — even and glare-free. From below, the face appears as a uniform luminous disc rather than a bright centre with a dim surround.

Is it resistant to temperature changes and fading?

The iron body and acrylic diffuser are both stable at normal indoor temperatures. The finish is applied to resist fading under prolonged operation — the three colours (black, gold, white) hold their tone.
