Installation Guide

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

The Cornice ships free worldwide and typically arrives within 15–21 business days. You'll receive tracking once it leaves our warehouse.

Is the installation process DIY-friendly?

The suspension and canopy are straightforward, but as it's hardwired, we recommend a certified electrician for the final connection to your ceiling junction box.

What type of wood is used?

Black walnut or pine — both solid, sustainably finished. Black walnut is darker and richer; pine is lighter and more neutral. Choose the tone that suits your room.

How do I adjust the height?

The suspension wire adjusts up to 2 m. Feed the cord through the canopy clamp and secure at your preferred drop — no tools required beyond a small screwdriver.

Can the light color be changed?

Yes — the integrated LED supports warm, neutral, and cool white, switchable via the included remote. Trichromatic dimmable mode lets you fine-tune between modes.

Yes. The remote controls on/off, dimming, and colour temperature switching from across the room.

Yes — the wire extends up to 2 m, so the fixture can hang at a comfortable 70–80 cm above a table even in rooms with 3 m+ ceilings.

Can it be wall-mounted?

Yes — the Cornice includes brackets for wall mounting as an alternative to ceiling suspension, useful for sconce-style placement above shelving or in a reading nook.

What voltage is required?
