Installation Guide

A close-to-ceiling install for low-clearance rooms — power off, mount the bracket, match the wires, done.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — direct to a standard ceiling junction box; sits close against the ceiling
  • Dimming — most socketed models dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Ceilings — flat ceilings only; for vaulted or sloped ceilings, look at semi-flush or pendant options instead
  • Power — hardwired to your home's electrical system

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — shut it off at the breaker panel and confirm with a voltage tester.
  2. Remove the fixture cover — twist or unclip the outer shade or base cover to expose the mounting plate and wiring.
  3. Install the mounting bracket — attach it to the ceiling junction box with the supplied screws, secure and level.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the junction box.
  5. Attach the fixture base — lift into place, align with the bracket, and secure with the provided screws so it sits flush against the ceiling.
  6. Reattach the cover — twist, clip, or fasten the decorative cover or diffuser back on.
  7. Restore power and test.

Metal frame — diffuser flush within it

The aluminium frame is formed to hold the frosted acrylic panel precisely at ceiling level — no air gap, no visible shadow around the edge. The frame itself is narrow, so the eye reads the lit diffuser more than the fixture around it. Black reads as a graphic ceiling element by day; gold warms as the light comes on in the evening.

Ceiling mounting is physically straightforward using the included brackets. Hardwiring should be carried out by a certified electrician for safety.

What materials are used in the frame?

The frame is aluminium; the diffuser panel is frosted acrylic. No painted plastic components — the aluminium holds its colour and resists fading.

Are the LEDs energy-efficient?

Yes — at 40–52W, the Katz produces 4,400–5,720 lm depending on size, equivalent to substantially more output per watt than conventional incandescent lighting.

How do I switch between light modes?

The Katz is available in warm white, cool white, or a dimmable configuration. Select the mode when ordering — it's set at the manufacturing stage, not via a switch on the fixture.

Does it come with mounting brackets?

Yes — all mounting hardware is included. The ceiling-mount bracket fits standard junction boxes; a wall-mount option uses the same hardware on a standard backplate.

Can it be wall-mounted?

Yes — the Katz can be wall-mounted using the included brackets, as an alternative to ceiling installation. It reads as a flat light panel rather than a traditional sconce.

Is the Katz Ceiling Light dimmable?

Dimming is an optional configuration — select it when ordering. The standard warm or cool white versions are not compatible with external dimmers unless specified.

What is the lifespan of the LEDs?

The integrated LED is rated at 50,000 hours — equivalent to over 17 years at 8 hours of daily use. No bulb replacements needed.

Does it include a warranty?
