Installation Guide

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

Wood cut to form — colour applied, not printed

Each Barr shade is cut from solid wood to the chosen geometric profile, then painted in a full-coverage solid tone using non-toxic paint. The finish is opaque — colour holds at the surface and doesn't yellow or peel with the modest heat of an E27 LED. Inside, the natural wood reflects warm tones back through the opening.

What materials are used in the construction?

The shade is solid wood with an iron canopy and hardware. Wood keeps each shade light without sacrificing rigidity — the geometric form holds its shape cleanly over time.

How do I install it?

Hardwired to a standard ceiling junction box. The canopy, mounting bracket, and junction hardware are included. Adjusting the cord length is done at installation. A certified electrician is recommended.

Is the paint non-toxic and safe?

Yes — the finish is applied in non-toxic paint across all colour options. This makes it suitable for children's bedrooms and playrooms as well as everyday living and kitchen spaces.

Can I adjust the height of the pendant?

Yes — the cord adjusts up to 1.5 m from the canopy. Set it low over a side table for a close pool of light, or higher as a room accent. Adjustment is fixed at installation.

What type of bulb does it use?

E27 — the most widely available screw base. An LED bulb is included; when it reaches end of life, any E27 LED in warm white or cool white fits as a replacement.

How long do the LED lights last?

The included E27 LED is rated for 50,000 hours — roughly 17 years of nightly use. Replacing it when needed is straightforward: unscrew the old bulb and fit any standard E27 LED.

What voltage is required for operation?

90–260V universal voltage — compatible with residential wiring in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and most other markets without any adapter or converter.

Does it come with all necessary mounting hardware?

Yes — the canopy, mounting bracket, and junction box hardware are all included in the box. An E27 LED bulb is also included so the fixture is ready to use immediately after installation.

Are there different light modes available?

The included LED is available in warm white (approximately 2700K) or cool white (approximately 6000K) — specify your preference at checkout. The fixture also accepts any E27 LED, giving you full control over colour temperature.

Can the cord length be adjusted?

Yes — the cord adjusts up to 1.5 m from the canopy. Excess cord is tucked inside the canopy and not visible once installed. Adjustment is a one-time setting made during installation.
