Installation Guide

A close-to-ceiling install for low-clearance rooms — power off, mount the bracket, match the wires, done.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — direct to a standard ceiling junction box; sits close against the ceiling
  • Dimming — most socketed models dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Ceilings — flat ceilings only; for vaulted or sloped ceilings, look at semi-flush or pendant options instead
  • Power — hardwired to your home's electrical system

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — shut it off at the breaker panel and confirm with a voltage tester.
  2. Remove the fixture cover — twist or unclip the outer shade or base cover to expose the mounting plate and wiring.
  3. Install the mounting bracket — attach it to the ceiling junction box with the supplied screws, secure and level.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the junction box.
  5. Attach the fixture base — lift into place, align with the bracket, and secure with the provided screws so it sits flush against the ceiling.
  6. Reattach the cover — twist, clip, or fasten the decorative cover or diffuser back on.
  7. Restore power and test.

Good to know

  • Great for standard or low ceilings — hallways, bedrooms, closets.
  • Confirm your junction box can support the fixture's weight.
  • Follow local electrical codes.
  • When in doubt, bring in a licensed electrician.

Fairy lights inside glass — two layers of glow

The Skeg pairs two light sources in each globe: the integrated LED produces the main diffused output through the glass, and the fairy lights add a second, finer layer of scattered warm points visible inside. Together they create a depth that a single source can't — the globe appears to glow from multiple distances simultaneously. The effect is most pronounced in dimmed settings.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials are used in the Skeg Ceiling Light?

The frame is polished iron in black or gold; the shades are blown glass with integrated fairy lights inside. The combination gives the Skeg Ceiling Light both structure and a soft, layered glow.

How energy-efficient is the lighting in the Skeg Ceiling Light?

The integrated LEDs are efficient relative to their output — the Skeg Ceiling Light produces 3520–12650 lm across its size range at 32–115W, with a rated life of 50,000 hours.

What is the lifespan of the LEDs in the Skeg Ceiling Light?

50,000 hours — roughly 17 years at eight hours a day. The LEDs are integrated and don't require replacement during normal use.

Does the Skeg Ceiling Light come with a remote control?

Yes — the dimmable version includes a remote that controls brightness and switches between light modes. Specify the dimmable version at order if you'd like remote control.

How easy is it to install the Skeg Ceiling Light?

It mounts to a standard ceiling junction box and is hardwired. The Skeg Ceiling Light is sloped-ceiling compatible. Professional installation by a certified electrician is recommended.

What kind of electrical socket is required for the Skeg Ceiling Light?

The Skeg Ceiling Light is hardwired, not plug-in. It connects to your ceiling's mains wiring via a standard junction box — compatible with 90–260V systems worldwide.

Is the Skeg Ceiling Light suitable for large living spaces?

Yes — the E configuration at L100xW90 cm is designed for larger rooms, producing 115W of output (12650 lm). Smaller configurations suit bedrooms, dining areas, and compact living rooms.

Can the Skeg Ceiling Light be mounted on both ceilings and walls?

The Skeg Ceiling Light is designed for ceiling mounting only. For a comparable wall-mounted option, contact us and we can suggest a fitting alternative.

Are there different light modes available for the Skeg Ceiling Light?

Yes — two modes are available via remote: a warm setting for ambient evenings and a brighter mode for general use. Dimming is continuous within each mode.
