Installation Guide

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

Each of the 50 acrylic layers is individually cut and set at a slightly different angle from the last, so the chandelier's silhouette shifts as you move around it. The LED source at the centre is completely hidden within the stack — from below, you see only the layered form glowing evenly, with no visible point of origin.

What materials are used in the construction?

The 50 layered rings are acrylic, set on a wood and acrylic core. Acrylic allows the light to transmit evenly through each layer, building the chandelier's diffused, glowing form.

How long does the LED light last?

The integrated LED is rated to 50,000 hours — at 8 hours a day, that's over 17 years of continuous use before any meaningful drop in output. No bulb replacement needed.

Is the light temperature adjustable?

No — the Folly has a fixed colour temperature set at production. It emits a consistent warm-to-neutral tone suited to living rooms, dining areas, and foyers.

How do I install it?

The Folly hangs from a standard ceiling junction box on the included wire, adjustable to 1.2 m. A certified electrician is recommended for the hardwired connection.

Can it be mounted on a wall?

The Folly is designed as a ceiling chandelier. While the source supports wall mounting in some configurations, we recommend ceiling installation to preserve the layered form's visual impact.

Does it come with all necessary mounting hardware?

Yes — wire, canopy, and fixings are all included. A certified electrician will have everything needed to complete the ceiling installation.

Is the chandelier dimmable?

No — the Folly's integrated LED is not configured for dimming. It operates at full brightness only. For a dimmable alternative, contact us and we can advise.

What colors are available?

Amber, black, clear, and gold — each shifts the chandelier's character: amber is warm and dramatic, clear is airy, black is graphic, and gold is rich and warm.

Is it suitable for dining rooms and foyers?

Yes — in the 60 or 70 cm size, the Folly works as a centrepiece over a dining table or in a double-height foyer. The 40 or 50 cm versions suit bedrooms and smaller dining spaces.

How do I clean and maintain it?

Dust the acrylic layers gently with a soft dry cloth or compressed air. Avoid liquid cleaners on the acrylic — they can cause micro-scratching that dulls the surface over time.
