Installation Guide

A close-to-ceiling install for low-clearance rooms — power off, mount the bracket, match the wires, done.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — direct to a standard ceiling junction box; sits close against the ceiling
  • Dimming — most socketed models dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Ceilings — flat ceilings only; for vaulted or sloped ceilings, look at semi-flush or pendant options instead
  • Power — hardwired to your home's electrical system

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — shut it off at the breaker panel and confirm with a voltage tester.
  2. Remove the fixture cover — twist or unclip the outer shade or base cover to expose the mounting plate and wiring.
  3. Install the mounting bracket — attach it to the ceiling junction box with the supplied screws, secure and level.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the junction box.
  5. Attach the fixture base — lift into place, align with the bracket, and secure with the provided screws so it sits flush against the ceiling.
  6. Reattach the cover — twist, clip, or fasten the decorative cover or diffuser back on.
  7. Restore power and test.

The integrated LED is spread across the full panel area, not concentrated at a point — which is what gives it the even, comfortable light quality. Yes, optionally — the remote-controlled variant allows adjustable brightness. The fixed-brightness version ships with three preset colour options: neutral, warm, and cool white. Specify at ordering which variant you need.

Does it come with a remote control?

The remote-controlled variant includes a remote for adjusting brightness and colour temperature. The fixed-brightness version does not include a remote — it operates at set brightness via the mains switch.

How long do the LEDs last?

The integrated LEDs are rated at 50,000 hours. At eight hours of daily use, that's over 17 years before any degradation becomes noticeable — and the design means no individual bulb replacement is ever needed.

Can it be mounted on both ceiling and wall?

Yes — the Brodenbach includes mounting hardware for both ceiling and wall installation. Wall-mounted, it acts as a large architectural sconce; ceiling-mounted, it provides full-room ambient light.

What voltage does it require?

90–260V AC, covering standard voltages worldwide. No transformer or adapter is needed regardless of your country's electrical system.

Is it easy to install?

Mounting is straightforward — screws are included for a standard ceiling or wall installation. The electrical connection is hardwired and should be completed by a certified electrician.

Does it include all necessary mounting hardware?

Yes — screws and mounting brackets for ceiling or wall installation are included in the box. The remote (on remote-controlled variants) and any required junction box accessories are also included.

Is the light adjustable in direction?

The light panel itself is fixed, but the source emits across the full panel face in all directions below. On the remote-controlled variant, a 45-degree tilt adjustment lets you angle the panel slightly toward a specific area.

Does it prevent glare?

Yes — the frosted acrylic diffuser is the key feature here. It spreads the integrated LED evenly so no bright point is visible from any seated or standing position. Comfortable for extended time spent in the room.
