Installation Guide

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

How do I install it?

The Marker hardwires to a standard ceiling junction box. The adjustable cord sets your preferred drop. We recommend a certified electrician for a clean, safe install.

The Marker takes an LED E27 bulb — a 15W LED gives 1500lm, using a fraction of the energy of an equivalent incandescent. LED bulbs are not included but are widely available.

At 50,000 hours, an LED bulb used eight hours a day will last over 17 years in the Marker before needing replacement.

Is the paint non-toxic?

Yes — the Marker's finish uses non-toxic pigment throughout, making it safe for bedrooms, children's spaces, and kitchens alongside the food prep area.

Can it be used with a dimmer switch?

The Marker itself is not dimmer-configured, but if you fit a dimmable LED E27 bulb and a compatible wall dimmer, dimming is possible. Check bulb compatibility with your dimmer first.

How easy is it to clean?

Wipe the iron surface with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners. The fade-resistant finish holds its colour without special treatment.
