Installation Guide

The install depends on your mount type — trimless, recessed, semi-recessed, surface, or track — so confirm which one you have before you start.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — trimless, recessed, semi-recessed, surface-mounted, or track-mounted; confirm the type in your product listing
  • Ceilings — most models suit drywall; some also work with concrete or drop ceilings, check the technical documentation
  • Dimming — many designs dim when paired with compatible drivers and wall dimmers
  • Power — hardwired, connects directly to a ceiling electrical junction
  • Trimless — may need professional finishing or flush-mount drywall work
  • Track — installs onto a compatible rail system; check your product's specification for track type

What you'll need

  • Drill, keyhole or drywall saw (for recessed or trimless)
  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included with most fixtures), screws and wall anchors (for surface mounting)
  • Level, measuring tape or pencil

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — at the breaker panel, and confirm with a voltage tester.
  2. Prepare the ceiling opening (recessed and trimless only) — mark your opening with the provided template and cut carefully with a drywall saw or hole cutter. Trimless models need deeper space and extra setup for a seamless finish.
  3. Install the mounting hardware or fixture housing — recessed and trimless designs insert into the ceiling cavity and secure with spring clips or fasteners (trimless may need joist framing); semi-recessed fixtures partially install per the included instructions; surface-mounted downlights attach directly with screws and wall anchors; track fixtures need a compatible track system first, then lock into place.
  4. Connect the wiring — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck neatly back into the housing or box.
  5. Final assembly — trimless fixtures get mudded and feathered into the ceiling plane before painting; recessed, semi-recessed, and surface fixtures finish by twisting or snapping the trim or body into place; track lights get positioned and rotated along the rail after locking in.
  6. Restore power and test — use the wall switch or dimmer to verify proper operation.

The Marble Downlight is designed to disappear into the ceiling. The aluminium trim sits flush with the plasterboard; only the circle of light on the surface below indicates it's there. Heat rises through the aluminium body and disperses before it can affect the LED, which is why the rated lifespan exceeds 80,000 hours — more than twice the typical recessed LED.

Are these fixtures suitable for historical homes?

Yes, where recessed ceiling installation is permitted. The Marble Downlight requires a cut hole in the ceiling, so it's best suited to plastered ceilings where this is possible. Heritage-listed properties may have restrictions on cutting — check with your contractor first.

What materials are used in the construction?

High-quality aluminium throughout — body, trim, and heat-sink. The aluminium conducts heat away from the LED efficiently, contributing to the 80,000-hour rated lifespan.

How do I install the fixtures?

Mark and cut holes to the specified diameter, connect the included driver to mains, wire the downlights to the driver, and push into the ceiling cutout. Sloped-ceiling compatible. Professional installation by a certified electrician is recommended.

How does the heat dissipation technology work?

The aluminium body conducts heat generated by the LED away from the chip and into the surrounding ceiling cavity. This keeps the junction temperature low, which directly extends the LED's rated life to 80,000 hours.

Are the beam angles adjustable?

Three fixed options are available — 15°, 45°, and 60°. The angle is set by the optic selected at install rather than adjusted after fitting. Choose 15° for accent lighting, 45° for task, or 60° for general ambient fill.

Does it provide instant illumination without flickering?

Yes. The Marble Downlight uses solid-state LED technology with instant-start circuitry — full output immediately when switched on, with no warm-up delay and no flicker at any point in the cycle.

How energy efficient are these fixtures?

Approximately 90% more efficient than equivalent halogen downlights. The output ranges from 1,100 lm at 10W to 2,640 lm at 24W — roughly 110 lm per watt across the range.
