Installation Guide

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

The Kobern's glass finish changes its character completely. Milk-white glass diffuses each E14 LED into a soft, even sphere of light — four gentle glows hanging at different angles from the frame. Transparent glass lets the bulb sit visible inside, turning each ball into a small light sculpture. Both use the same gold iron frame and the same E14 replaceable fitting.

Is the cord length adjustable?

Yes — the cord adjusts up to 1.5m from the ceiling canopy. Your installer sets the final drop during fitting. For dining rooms, a drop of 60–75cm above the table surface is typically the right position.

How do I install this fixture?

The Kobern is hardwired to a standard ceiling junction box. All mounting hardware is included. Professional installation by a certified electrician is recommended to ensure safe wiring and correct cord positioning.

What type of bulbs does it support?

Four E14 LEDs — replaceable standard fittings. The included bulbs are 10W each at 4000lm total. Any E14 LED in the appropriate colour temperature fits the socket when eventual replacement is needed.

Can it be used in a dining room?

Yes — it's one of the natural fits. Four bulbs at 40W total provide enough output for a dining table, and the adjustable drop lets you position the frame at the right height for the table below. Use milk-white glass for a softer dinner-table glow.

How durable is the metal frame?

The gold-finished metal frame is built to hold the four glass balls and the electrical load of four E14 LEDs indefinitely. The finish resists tarnishing under standard indoor conditions and daily use.

Are the glass balls break-resistant?

The glass is not tempered or shatter-proof — treat it with normal care. The frame holds each ball securely once installed; they are not at risk of falling under normal conditions. Care during installation is recommended.
