Installation Guide

A close-to-ceiling install for low-clearance rooms — power off, mount the bracket, match the wires, done.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — direct to a standard ceiling junction box; sits close against the ceiling
  • Dimming — most socketed models dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Ceilings — flat ceilings only; for vaulted or sloped ceilings, look at semi-flush or pendant options instead
  • Power — hardwired to your home's electrical system

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — shut it off at the breaker panel and confirm with a voltage tester.
  2. Remove the fixture cover — twist or unclip the outer shade or base cover to expose the mounting plate and wiring.
  3. Install the mounting bracket — attach it to the ceiling junction box with the supplied screws, secure and level.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the junction box.
  5. Attach the fixture base — lift into place, align with the bracket, and secure with the provided screws so it sits flush against the ceiling.
  6. Reattach the cover — twist, clip, or fasten the decorative cover or diffuser back on.
  7. Restore power and test.

The shade is formed from acrylic and the decorative figure from resin — both lightweight, smooth-finish materials that clean easily with a damp cloth and hold their white colour over time.

Is the light fixture compatible with dimmer switches?

Dimming is available on request — let us know at the time of order and we'll configure it for a standard wall dimmer. The included E27 LED is compatible with most leading-edge dimmers.

How energy-efficient is the lighting?

The single fixture runs at 15W (1500 lm) and the combination at 45W (4500 lm) — LED throughout, so it draws a fraction of what a comparable incandescent would use for the same output.

What is the expected lifespan of the LEDs?

The integrated E27 LED bulb is rated at 50,000 hours of operating life — at four hours a day, that's over 34 years before you'd need to think about a replacement.

Are there any special maintenance requirements?

None beyond the occasional wipe. The acrylic shade and resin figure don't corrode or discolour — just dust with a dry cloth or wipe with a lightly damp one when needed.

Is professional installation recommended?

Yes — the Calyx hardwires to a standard ceiling junction box. We recommend a certified electrician for the connection; once mounted, the fixture itself needs no further adjustment.

Does the fixture come with a warranty?

Yes — a one-year warranty is included with every order, covering manufacturing defects. Extended cover of two or three years is available; just ask at the time of purchase.

Can it be mounted on different ceiling types?

It mounts to a standard ceiling junction box and is compatible with flat ceilings in all four sizes. Sloped-ceiling compatibility is available on request — let us know the angle and we'll advise.

How long is the power cord?

The fixture hardwires directly to your ceiling junction box rather than running a visible cord, so cord length is set at installation. Your electrician can adjust the lead length to suit the ceiling height.

Are there any safety certifications?
