Installation Guide

A close-to-ceiling install for low-clearance rooms — power off, mount the bracket, match the wires, done.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — direct to a standard ceiling junction box; sits close against the ceiling
  • Dimming — most socketed models dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Ceilings — flat ceilings only; for vaulted or sloped ceilings, look at semi-flush or pendant options instead
  • Power — hardwired to your home's electrical system

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — shut it off at the breaker panel and confirm with a voltage tester.
  2. Remove the fixture cover — twist or unclip the outer shade or base cover to expose the mounting plate and wiring.
  3. Install the mounting bracket — attach it to the ceiling junction box with the supplied screws, secure and level.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the junction box.
  5. Attach the fixture base — lift into place, align with the bracket, and secure with the provided screws so it sits flush against the ceiling.
  6. Reattach the cover — twist, clip, or fasten the decorative cover or diffuser back on.
  7. Restore power and test.

How does the installation process work?

Is the Fathom Ceiling Light dimmable?

Yes, with optional dimming — specify this at checkout. The integrated LED supports dimming when configured for a compatible wall switch or remote, giving you control over both brightness and mood.

What are the light modes available?

Three: warm white (approx. 2700K) for evening ambiance, cool white (approx. 6000K) for task work, and tri-colour (a mid-range setting) for general use. Switch between them with the included control.

How long do the LEDs last?

The integrated LED is rated to 50,000 hours. At eight hours of daily use that's over 17 years — and because the LED is integrated, there's nothing to replace within that period.

Is the fixture energy-efficient?

Yes — integrated LED technology draws significantly less power than equivalent halogen or incandescent sources. The Fathom produces even, bright light at a fraction of the running cost.

How do I clean and maintain this fixture?

Wipe the acrylic diffuser and aluminium body with a soft damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can scratch the diffuser surface. The fade-resistant finish requires no special treatment.

Does it come with all the necessary mounting hardware?

Yes — ceiling and wall mounting hardware are both included. The canopy plate, screws, and anchors are in the box. An E27 LED is not needed — the light source is integrated.

Can this fixture be used in different rooms?

Yes — the compact size (D24 cm) and four finish options make it suitable for bedrooms, hallways, bathrooms (dry zone only), offices, and living rooms. Works as a primary or secondary light source.
