Installation Guide

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

The Turckheim Pendant Light is made from natural rattan and wood. The rattan is hand-woven into the lantern form and holds its structure through tension rather than adhesive, while the wood components provide the frame and canopy support.

How adjustable is the height?

The Turckheim Pendant Light includes a cord adjustable up to 3.9ft (1.2m). This allows you to set the drop to suit your ceiling height and the surface below — positioning it lower over a dining table or higher in an open entryway.

How easy is the installation process?

The Turckheim Pendant Light is hardwired and connects to your ceiling junction box via the included canopy. We recommend installation by a qualified electrician. Once wired, the fixture is lightweight and straightforward to position and adjust.

Is it suitable for high ceilings?

Yes, within the range of the cord. The Turckheim Pendant Light's cord adjusts up to 1.2m, which allows for significant drop from the ceiling. For very high ceilings requiring a longer drop, please contact us before ordering.

What type of light bulbs can be used?

The Turckheim Pendant Light accepts an E27 base LED bulb, which is not included. We recommend a warm-white LED at 2700K for the most natural complement to the rattan weave. Maximum wattage for the fixture is 15W.

Does it come with all necessary hardware?

The Turckheim Pendant Light includes the canopy, cord, and mounting hardware. An E27 LED bulb is not included and must be purchased separately. All components needed for hardwired installation are provided with the fixture.

Is it energy-efficient?

The Turckheim Pendant Light is compatible with E27 LED bulbs, which use a fraction of the energy of older incandescent sources at the same lumen output. An LED at 8–10W is sufficient to illuminate the fixture effectively and efficiently.

How does the rattan hold up over time?

Natural rattan is durable in stable indoor environments. The Turckheim Pendant Light should be kept away from prolonged moisture or high humidity, which can cause natural fibres to soften. In dry indoor conditions it holds its form and finish for many years.

Can it be used in outdoor spaces?

The Turckheim Pendant Light is designed for indoor use only. Natural rattan is susceptible to moisture damage and should not be installed in uncovered outdoor areas, bathrooms, or any environment with sustained humidity or direct exposure to weather.

Does it provide adequate lighting for large rooms?

At a maximum of 15W the Turckheim Pendant Light is best suited to ambient or accent use rather than primary illumination in large rooms. For larger spaces, we recommend pairing it with additional ceiling or floor light sources to ensure adequate overall brightness.
