Installation Guide

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

What materials are used in the construction?

The shade is cast concrete on an iron frame — heavy, tactile, and genuinely industrial. The rope suspension is fabric-wrapped and the canopy is iron. Everything you see is the real material.

Is the light dimmable?

Yes, on request. Let us know at checkout and we'll configure it for wall-dimmer compatibility. It uses a standard E27 socket, so any dimmable LED bulb also works with a compatible wall switch.

How do I install it?

Hardwired to a standard ceiling junction box. Fix the canopy, thread the cord to your preferred length, and connect to your wiring. Professional installation by a certified electrician is recommended.

What type of bulbs does it use?

E27 (Edison screw) — the most widely available base size. An LED bulb is included, but you can swap in any E27 LED to change the colour temperature or brightness to suit the room.

Can it be used outdoors?

No — the Barnim is rated for indoor use only. The concrete is not weatherproofed, and the iron hardware is not sealed against moisture or direct rain.

Is the height adjustable?

Yes. The rope cord extends up to 1.8 m and is adjusted at the canopy. Drop it low for a dining table focal point or shorten it for higher ceilings where you want the pendant to float mid-room.

Does it come with a warranty?

Yes — all Nava Decor products include a 1-year warranty covering manufacturing defects, with options to extend to 2, 3, or 5 years. Contact us after purchase to arrange an extension.

How long is the power cord?

The rope suspension cord is adjustable up to 1.8 m (approximately 5.9 ft) from the canopy. Excess cord coils neatly inside the canopy and is not visible once installed.

Are there different color options available?

The Barnim comes in natural grey concrete — the raw, unmixed tone of cast cement. The iron hardware is black. There is one finish option; the variation comes from the concrete's natural casting marks.

Is it energy efficient?

The included LED runs at 15W (1500 lm) — efficient for its output. Swap in any E27 LED you prefer, including lower-wattage options, to suit the room's brightness needs.
