Installation Guide

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

Amber glass — a warmer version of the same form

Each glass option changes what the Argillite does to a room. Transparent passes the LED's native tone through cleanly. Smoky Grey softens and slightly cools the output. Amber tints everything a warmer, more golden tone — the closest of the three to candlelight. Choose based on the room's existing colour palette and how warm you want the atmosphere to read.

What is the warranty period?

The Argillite comes with a 1-year warranty as standard, extendable to 2, 3, or 5 years. Contact us for extended warranty options.

How do I install this?

Standard hardwired ceiling pendant installation: fix the canopy to a rated ceiling box, connect to the circuit, and adjust the cord length. Professional installation by a licensed electrician is recommended.

Are the LED bulbs replaceable?

No — the Argillite uses an integrated LED module, not a replaceable bulb. The module is factory-fitted and rated for 50,000+ hours. Replacement is not expected to be needed for many years of normal use.

What are the available color options?

Three glass shade options: Transparent (passes light cleanly), Smoky Grey (softer and slightly cooled), and Amber (warmer and more golden). The metal base is Gold across all options.

Does it come with adjustable hanging length?

Yes. The Argillite includes 1 m of cord, adjustable at installation. Excess cord can be gathered inside the canopy housing.

Is it suitable for high ceilings?

The 1 m cord is appropriate for standard ceiling heights of 2.4–3 m. For higher ceilings an extension is possible — please contact us to discuss before ordering.

What voltage does it operate on?
