Installation Guide

Most wall lamps are a simple bracket-and-wire job — but check your power type first, since hardwired, plug-in, and rechargeable models each install a little differently.

Before you begin

  • Dimming — most socketed lamps dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Power — hardwired, plug-in, or rechargeable depending on the model; check your product details
  • Mounting — wall-mount, hardware included
  • Indoor/outdoor — confirm your model is rated for outdoor use before installing outside

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver
  • Wire nuts (included for hardwired models)
  • Voltage tester
  • Power drill (for new mounting locations)

Step by step

  1. Identify your power type — hardwired, plug-in, or rechargeable. Follow the steps below for yours.
  2. If hardwired: turn off the power — switch off at your main electrical panel and confirm with a voltage tester.
  3. If hardwired: remove the old lamp — unscrew it and disconnect the wires by removing the wire nuts.
  4. If hardwired: attach the new mounting bracket — align it with your junction box or marked wall location and secure with the included screws.
  5. If hardwired: connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Twist and secure with wire nuts, then tuck neatly into the junction box.
  6. If hardwired: mount the fixture — align with the bracket and secure with the provided screws.
  7. If hardwired: install the bulb — correct type and wattage, if your model uses one.
  8. If hardwired: restore power and test.
  9. If plug-in: mount the bracket — with anchors or screws, then attach the fixture and plug it into a nearby outlet. Route the cord neatly.
  10. If rechargeable: mount the bracket — with screws and anchors, fully charge the lamp with the included cable, then install it onto the bracket and power on.

What type of bulb does the Friaren Wall Lamp use?

It uses an E14 LED bulb — a candelabra base that's widely available. One bulb is included. You can swap it for any E14 at your preferred colour temperature; warm white (2700–3000K) suits the brass finish best.

Is the Friaren Wall Lamp dimmable?

Dimming is available on request — specify at checkout and we'll configure the fitting for dimmer compatibility. Standard orders ship non-dimmable unless noted.

What materials are used in the construction?

The base and cap are metal with a gold brass finish; the shade is cylindrical glass. Both materials are selected for durability — the metal holds its finish and the glass resists yellowing over time.

What is the voltage range?

90–260V, making it compatible with standard electrical systems across North America, Europe, Australia, and most of Asia. No transformer needed for most installations.

How many bulbs does it require?

One — a single E14 LED, included in the box. The vertical form channels that single source both up and down through the cylindrical glass.

Can the bulb be replaced?

Yes — the E14 base is a standard fitting. When the included LED eventually reaches the end of its life (typically 50,000+ hours), any E14 LED from a hardware store will fit.

What colour options are available?

The Friaren comes in gold (brass) only. If you need a different finish for your space, contact us — we can advise on complementary options from the Nava Decor range.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

No — the Friaren is rated for indoor use only. For covered outdoor spaces like a veranda or sheltered entryway, please enquire about IP-rated alternatives.

Where is it best suited for installation?

Hallways, bedrooms, living rooms, and entryways — anywhere a compact, vertically oriented accent light adds warmth without taking up much wall space. It pairs well beside mirrors or artwork.

Does it require professional installation?

Yes. As a hardwired wall fixture, it connects to mains wiring and should be installed by a certified electrician. The fitting itself is straightforward once the wall is prepped and the circuit is isolated.
