Installation Guide

A close-to-ceiling install for low-clearance rooms — power off, mount the bracket, match the wires, done.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — direct to a standard ceiling junction box; sits close against the ceiling
  • Dimming — most socketed models dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Ceilings — flat ceilings only; for vaulted or sloped ceilings, look at semi-flush or pendant options instead
  • Power — hardwired to your home's electrical system

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — shut it off at the breaker panel and confirm with a voltage tester.
  2. Remove the fixture cover — twist or unclip the outer shade or base cover to expose the mounting plate and wiring.
  3. Install the mounting bracket — attach it to the ceiling junction box with the supplied screws, secure and level.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the junction box.
  5. Attach the fixture base — lift into place, align with the bracket, and secure with the provided screws so it sits flush against the ceiling.
  6. Reattach the cover — twist, clip, or fasten the decorative cover or diffuser back on.
  7. Restore power and test.

Good to know

  • Great for standard or low ceilings — hallways, bedrooms, closets.
  • Confirm your junction box can support the fixture's weight.
  • Follow local electrical codes.
  • When in doubt, bring in a licensed electrician.

Frame and light — the same object, viewed together

Most ceiling fixtures separate the structure from the light source — a housing holds a bulb or panel, and the shade hides the join. The Chene removes that hierarchy: the acrylic-and-aluminium frame IS the light source, with LED panels embedded along the edges so the frame itself glows. The intersecting geometry creates a layered shadow pattern on the ceiling around the fixture when lit.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

No Shade

The integrated LEDs in the frame faces eliminate the need for a separate shade — the fixture reads clean at any angle.

Scalable

2, 3, or 4-head configurations step up in size and output — from a bedroom accent to a living room centrepiece.

Two Finishes

Gold suits warmer, eclectic rooms; black reads sharper and more minimal — same geometry, different character.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Chene Ceiling Light unique?

The Chene integrates the LED panels into the intersecting frame structure itself — rather than a shade covering a bulb, the frame members glow directly. The result is a geometric light source that reads as sculpture when unlit and as a luminous pattern when on.

Is the Chene Ceiling Light dimmable?

Dimming is available as an option — specify it at the time of order and we'll configure the integrated LED panels for use with a standard wall dimmer. The fixture otherwise ships in its non-dimming configuration.

What materials are used in the construction of this light fixture?

The frames are aluminium, which provides rigidity with low weight; the panel faces are acrylic, which transmits the LED output evenly along each frame member. Both materials are long-lasting and don't discolour under prolonged LED heat.

How many bulbs does the Chene Ceiling Light use?

None individually — the Chene uses integrated LED panels built into the frame faces. There are no separate bulb sockets or bulbs to source, fit, or replace during the fixture's operating life.

What voltage range does this light fixture support?

The Chene runs on 90–260VAC — compatible with North American (110–120V), European and Australian (220–240V), and most other standard voltages worldwide without the need for a transformer.

In what rooms can this ceiling light be installed?

Bedrooms, living rooms, dining areas, and home offices are the primary spaces. The 2-head configurations suit mid-sized rooms; the 4-head at 110W (12,100 lm) provides substantial output for larger open-plan spaces or commercial areas.

How many design and colour options are available?

Three configuration sizes (2, 3, or 4 heads) across five specific dimensions, and two finishes — gold and black. Gold reads warmer and suits rooms with natural timber or terracotta; black reads sharper for more minimal interiors.

Is professional installation required for this light fixture?

Yes — the Chene hardwires to a standard ceiling junction box. We recommend a certified electrician for the connection; once mounted, no further adjustment is required.

Does the integrated LED light need frequent replacement?

No — integrated LED panels in ceiling fixtures of this type are rated for tens of thousands of hours of use. Under normal domestic conditions, the LED panels will outlast the fixture's useful decorative life without requiring replacement.

Can this ceiling light be used in spaces with low ceilings?

Yes — at only 7 cm in height, the Chene is a low-profile fixture with almost no drop from the ceiling. It's a good choice for rooms where a pendant or chandelier would reduce usable headroom, as it adds presence without taking up vertical space.
